Well to be honest, I could live without the names and would actually love much simpler uniforms. White sweaters with a maroon"N" maybe trimmed in gold and visa versa for home uniforms.
Clean, simple and classic.
Honestly? I like the Middlebury sweaters for that very reason--they make a simple powerful statement. Even as a former loyal member of the Corp, I think our boys have reached a level where they do not need 21st Century cartoon figure graphics waving sabers to send a message. But then again I am old fashion.
I'm with ya Rook.
Take a look at Harvard's uniforms from the Frozen Fenway game. Those things are awesome. I'd be all for Norwich replicating that look.

That is the ticket. The Harvard Sweaters are close to what I am talking about--especially that simple band around the middle. Very similar to the Middlebury.
In my career I have worked closely with hundreds of national branding programs and the best are always based on CONSISTENT simplicity--which in itself is a powerful statement.
It seems especially true when it represents a skilled athletic program--amateur or professional. Once upon a time I was a Yankee's fan (until George fired Yogi) and found religion in Fenway. That said, the simplicity of the Yankees uniform--both home and away--has evolved into a branding statement that strikes fear in the hearts of their opponents.
And that is what this should be about--just as all those championship banners hanging from rafters at the Berg are designed to do--intimidate opponents who visit Northfield. They could just as easily be displayed in the lobby or else where--but they are an in your face statement to any visiting team that "you are about to play with the best". And in my mind--it works. But McShane doesn't need my advice as a fashion or branding consultant--not with his superb record.![]()
I'm a huge fan of the way Norwich does that over the way Oswego does things jamming everything onto three banners.
They still dont have banners up representing the other teams in the sunyac.
I think Prez was referring to Oswego not having the SUNYAC teams bannersup...
Ok fans, I know St. Mike's isn't our major competition this year, but I have to say, after a scoreless 1st period, the Cadets came out strong and played a decent game, albeit short 5 starters. Baker, Thomas, Forkey, Theida, and Lindensmith out and we come back with an 8-0 win. The more I see of Chris Czarnota, the more I like, 2 shutouts in 4 games, GAA of .565 and a save % of.970. The new players did very well although a little shakey in the 1st. Nice to see Emmond Bell back too, something like 3 assists on the weekend. The depth of this team is Norwich's salvation.
yea whats up with midd. they are getting rocked???Emmond was back last weekend. But agreed.
It was nice to see the boys pull through with solid efforts in the 2nd and 3rd period. 1st period got off to a rough start to with the two penalties right off the bat including the 5 minuter major hitting from behind on Carpino..Killed it off though and got through the period.
While we were able to get by St. Michael's without those five...Middlebury could be a different story on Tuesday even though the Panthers aren't lighting the world on fire right now.
Not to mention UVMA couple of comments on this weekends games: Chris Duszynski move Friday to swat away a St. Mike's defender and score was one of the best offensive plays I have seen this year. Saturday Colin Mulvey shot from the right circle over the St. Mike's goalie shoulder was also a great shot. No reference has been made to St, Mike's holding and interference in both games but I thought they got away with a lot where Norwich seemed to get called for everything. Add me to the list of fans who is impressed with goalie Chris Czarnota. Still hard to believe the World Women's hockey games will be played in a high school rink-Carins in South Burlington. Middlebury arena is outstanding and is only 30-40 miles down the road and Norwich not that much further.
Not to mention UVM
The main rink will be UVM. Cairns will be the secondary site. I guess the committee didn't want to deal with the logistics of teams traveling away from the Burlington Area.
