There is no doubt that Kyle is a good player, maybe a great player, but he can not be compared to McLean and the likes. Kurtis had 28g, 24a, and had 1.62pts/game in his Freshman year. Kyle had 23g, 9a, and 1.03pt/game in his Freshman year. As Sophomores, Kurtis was 25g, 23a for 1.66pts/game while Kyle was 16g, 12a for .97pts/game. And so on and so on.
However, Kyle is showing increases in his maturity and ability to play as a team as evidenced from his increase in assists over the past 2 years. He currently has 9 goals and 9 assists in 11 games this season. You can see him looking to divert attention to himself while looking for the open man, you can definately see the wheels turning in his head to figure out who has the better shot. I am sure that is part of McShane's strategy, to use Kyle as a diversion to create open opportunities for other players. I think George Commo even mentioned that Friday or Saturday night during his broadcasts of the games. By scoring an impressive goal, he also excites the fans and his team mates, edging them on to victory so to speak. So if he scores or assists on a goal, the outcome of the game benefits the team, which I believe is part of the definition of a "good player". Hopefully all players will become more complete players every season that they play.
The one area that I think Kyle still needs to work on, is his ability to back off when provoked by an opposing player. I don't know if it was Friday or Saturday night's game, but the opposing player was "talking" to Kyle after a shot on goal and it was obvious it wasn't a nice conversation. Thankfully, Pier-Olivier Cotnoir, came over and seperated the two before anything came from the "talk". That too, is an example of a "complete" player and why Cotnoir is an assistant captain.
Norwich has a history full of impressive players, all different and unique, but talented all the same. One of Norwich's greatest assets though, is that they clearly play as a team and support each other 24/7 and that is what makes them a
Great team. For instance, after Nevin Lawler's first goal of the season, the team acted as if they had just won the NCAA's, supporting each other 110%. I think that is evident by their success in the NCAA'a consistantly through the 15 years I have been watching them play. Thanks for all the years, Cadets, you are very entertaining!

Good luck this weekend and enjoy the honor of playing at Fenway, you all deserve it.
