Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I'll be watching the races, then move to my computer to watch/listen to the hockey games/s. A distance of 6 feet, my exercise for the day.....no wait, I'll have played 18 holes of golf by then.:)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

But it's getting in and out of the cart that provides the cardio excercise..:).....that, and looking for my ball in the woods/weeds and I get about 8 miles of walking, too.:D

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Racing is kind of like baseball ... no time clock and they can get rain ...
The 10/23 race at Talladega starts at 2 pm ... 500 miles should take it to at least 6:00 pm ...
The 10/30 race at Martinsville starts at 1:30 ... they should be out of that one by 5:00 pm ...

But remember those are guesstimates ... for more exact numbers contact Dave Moody at MRN Radio ... or just tune in and see!

Question why doesn't WDEV broadcast the race on 550AM and announce the Norwich game on the FM station. It would seem that such an approach would make everyone happy, including the hockey and race fans.

Also I was wondering when the agreement with the D2 ECAC E teams expires. I believe the ECAC E is the only league left that still has D2 teams since the Northeast no longer has D2's. Should be a very exciting hockey season starting off with the 2 D1 schools followed by the Primelink in about a month.

The ECAC E also looks like a very strong league with 2 teams in the top 10 in the USCHO poll, Norwich and Castleton. Speaking of Castleton some store owners near VT Route 107 advised that the road would not be open to mid-December which makes it a little hard to get to Rutland from some directions.

Norwich is only playing one NCAA D-I team in Dartmouth. Three Rivers is a Canadian University that has played NCAA D-I teams in the past.

The ECAC East has two very strong teams at the top but after that it doesn't compare to the depth conferences like the ECAC West, NESCAC and SUNYAC have.

Prez Southern Maine, Babson, UMass Boston, and Skidmore are all good teams; do you think teams like Potsdam, Geneseo, and Buffalo State are more competitive. NEC used to be a top team in NE but for whatever reason the quality of play has dropped. The ECAC W is a very strong group of teams.

Geneseo, Buffalo State, Morrisville, and Fredonia would be your next four teams after Plattsburgh/Oswego.

Those four are comparable to the teams you listed from the ECAC East. However, I'd take Geneseo certainly before any of the ECAC East teams after Castleton/Norwich.

Babson was a good team last year that for some reason couldn't put it all together every night. Norwich threw everything they had at them in the regular season game and the ECAC East championship.

Take a look at the above table. That shows you how dominant the ECAC West is.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

This might not be the right spot to ask this question but is Nazareth going to be part of the ECAC West next year?
And probably Stevenson 2 years after that.

The ECAC-W survived LVC.

But if they poop the bed in the OOC and suicide against each other in conference, they MAY be on the outside looking in when it comes to Mayhem Monday.

.

2 Seasons: this and the next then if nothing changes with the D2's you will see something happening.....

http://www.norwichathletics.com/sports/mice/2011-12/releases/Trois-Rivieres_Tickets_10-7-11

Ticket details for the Norwich/Trois Rivieres exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 30th at Kreitzberg Arena.

I'm just wondering if you know why this is happening the way it is? Most of the season ticket holders have been around since the building opened. It seems weird that we have to get to the rink super early just to get our preferred seat. Seems like bad planning.

I'll defer to Charlie on that but I do know there are plans in the work to get a VERY large student crowd for that game.

Sure wished we had known about this game Prez...Chirp and I would have prob held the "Raising Hell" tour over for another day...

Should have checked the schedule ;) it's been there the whole time. It should be a doozy. Three Rivers has plenty of ex qmjhl players on it.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Students can come to any game. Why should season ticket holders have to scramble to find seats. They have put their support and money behind the team for over a decade. Kreitzberg wouldn't be what it is without the fans that ALWAYS support the team. It seems that the students only come in large numbers when special events are created.

Babson had 11 Freshman in total and 5 or 6 Freshman D in the lineup every night. That is why they were much better at the end of the season and playoffs. Babson beat Castleton in the playoffs and went to OT with Norwich in the championship game. I expect them to be challenging those two for the top spot all year. They also have Hobart and Platty on the schedule this year , so we'll see whats up!

I have no doubt they'll be there in the end. They are classy team with a great coach. Lot of respect for babson and their program. Testa is solid. Donato is a playmaker. Heavey is good. They've definitely got talent. Is Hoban still around?

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Screw the season ticket holders!

That sure seems to be the attitude when an organization does something like this pay extra to get into a game then say you can't have your regular seat! Very bad decision.

To play devil's advocate here, some fans might be annoyed to be forced into buying a ticket to an exhibition game. It's a no win situation unless they could have been creative about it.
