Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

And then Elmira heads back to vermont a little over a month later for the 2012 northfield savings bank tournament which is a week later this year on the 6th and 7th or 7th and 8th. Fitchburg state and Morrisville round out the field.

Will the students be back for the NSB Tourney? Also, what are the dates of the Primelink this year?

The red birds will be invading Kreitzberg on that Friday nite to close the first half of the season with the students still in session.

Prez: Will this be the Men's or Women's game??? Normally the Men's team plays the red birds on a Tuesday night during the first two weeks of January. With the ending of the interlock this could have changed.

The Friday night game is the men. The women will be playing Plattsburgh at Kreitzberg two days earlier on Wednesday.

The ending of the Interlock gives Norwich a lot of new possibilities to play around with the schedule.

Instead of practice starting on November 1st every year, it will now start with the rest of D-III on Oct. 15. The Dartmouth game most likely would have never been possible during the Interlock years. Norwich also has an extra game to play with every year now and this year it will be Dartmouth.

The possibility of playing the USA 18 and Under team becomes more prevalent as well and NU could end up playing them WITHOUT the game counting against its 25 allotted official games.

However, going back to the original point...

How cool would it be if they could swing a couple of date changes for the games and play both the men and womens games on Saturday the 10th at Kreitzberg Arena.

Play the women at four and the men at 7. It'd be a tremendous day of hockey for all involved. We would surely break the women's attendance record and it would give Plattsburgh fans a chance to get more bang for their buck and seeing two games rather than just one.

It's a pipe dream but it sure would be a fun event to have both on the same day in the same arena.

Call it the Cadet-Cardinal Classic or something like that.

Just spitballing here :)

That's a way-cool idea - make it happen, would you :)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Thanks!!!! Can't wait for more Norwich Plattsburgh games on the Mens and womens sides. They were all great games this year. Circle December 9th on your calendar cards fans. The red birds will be invading Kreitzberg on that Friday nite to close the first half of the season with the students still in session.

Wow! It will be great to play there on a weekend night too! The Cards have no week day games at all this year. How good is that!

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

The students will not be back.

Also,

I'm still working on trying to get the cannon between the "He shoots, He scores"

:)
Well if the students are not there, will you be able to shoot the cannon and not hit anyone? :D

Visiting goaltenders are going to LOVE that cannon. You may just have invented a new meaning of cannon fodder.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Not really...cannon fodder was usually the infantry thrown into battle in a no win situation, a common occurrance in the Crimean War, World War One and the Civil War, but not often since.

And I always thought it was the opposite of the cannon mudder. ;)

Ahh yes, I'd nearly forgotten that the inter-division game counts to the 25-game limit (but now that I think of it, it's absolutely no different from a game with a DII team: counts towards the limit, and can theoretically influence results with secondary criteria comparisons, if there ever were one, but for all other purposes an exhibition.

Oh H*LL yes!!! Try to swing your weight around and make this happen... please???

Make it an annual thing, with host schools rotating. We know that both are capable of doing this. DO IT!!! :p

I still think that's a great idea, but there a lot of hurdles, most particularly the fact that the 10th of December will be "reading day." The academic regulations prohibit any scheduled non-academic activities on that day. The theory is that it is supposed to be a day devoted to studying for final exams, and having a hockey game, especially during the evening before finals start won't fly with lots of people. Friday would work, however.
