... Not 100% sure but rumor has it that Norwich has lost some hockey goalie recruits late in the recruiting season to D1 teams. Can anyone confirm? It would be great to accept a D1 goalie transfer provided he is good enough to compete for the number # 1 job.

LOL - Is hawk known to renege?

I am a big Scott Schroeder suporter, but Pier-Oliver Cotnoir is also an outstanding player and deserves the MVP. Any chance that Steven Schroeder will work things out so he can return to Norwich? He is also an outstanding player that was missed this year.

I believe there have been 2 instances discussed here on USCHO.

One was a recruit that was published early, and hyped up a lot, and then one of the upstate NY Div I teams (I can't for the life of me remember which, ST.L or CCT) swooped in and made him an offer when they realized that, really late in the game, they still had a need in that position and he was their best bet. That's pretty much when Norwich started getting REALLY tight-lipped about their recruits. Like, really. Not a peep from that athletic department.

The other was this last season. I don't recall if he was ever publicly tied to Norwich, I think he might have been through an article on his junior team's website or something, but then when UAH's starting goaltender went pro, his offer there got upped and became a lot more attractive, and so he went to UAH.

I believe the one you are refering to was Clarkson.

Richie Leveau, Clarkson. He seems to be a bust. In fact, he's the one norm was talking about just above...

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

I saw this http://www.cosida.com/jobs.aspx?jobid=2795 and at first I got excited because this could be Prez's ticket to stardom and therefore my ticket to stardom (joke), but then I read some of the recent posts on this thread about why this is open and I hope Charlie is doing OK. I don't know what is going on, but whatever it is, I hope he is recovering well.

Unfortunately, Charlie has leukemia, and is still looking for a bone marrow donor.

well we at Oswego got a D1 trans from Niagara at winter break last yr., goalie, not sure what he is capably of yet?? Didnt seem to be to much chatter about him, so as you said, as long as he is good enough to compete

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Prez I know you are on the boards now. FYI the Norwich women Cadets where on NESN today in the club section as Jack Edwards agian showed the hole team waving at everyone. This was at the 8:07 mark of the 2nd period. So if you turn on your tv tonight to Nesn they are doing a encore of today,s game starting at 8:00 pm so about 8:40 pm you should see it as they don,t do the intermision time on the encore. I know this will be hard to get away from the DIV 1 finale.:D:D:D

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

I know I am a bit late in getting this out, having been away during Final Four, but still want to congratulate the Cadets for making to the Final Four and for a very competitive game in the semi's. I congratulate St Norbert on their win but at the same time wondered why the East did not fare better this year. I got to see part of the games in Florida but wasn't party to the opinions after it all was done.( My connections were not very good there). If anyone wishes to comment, I would like to hear an opinion or two. I know I could read previous posts but since time has passed, I thought maybe the dust has had time to settle and I might hear a few brief comments from somebody who was there. Anyways, thanks.

Norwich controlled the game for the most part, especially in the second period, but O'Brien was just too good. Great goaltending performance by him.

St. Norbert really played physical in the first period and it seemed their mission was to take the body against Norwich. Everyone was finishing their checks and I'm sure that started to take its toll as the game wore on.

SNC capitalizes on a couple opportunities and Norwich misses on a couple opportunities and there is your game.

I didn't mention this before, but it seems like a good opportunity.

I don't think O'Brien was the difference at all. Sure, he's great, and he played his angles extremely well, but I think it was more St. Norbert's overall defensive game plan that stifled Norwich. NU barely had any top quality scoring chances. Big saves by O'Brien could easily be counted on one hand, in my opinion. Norwich took mostly low-percentage shots from bad angles -- a testament more to the Norbert game plan and execution of that plan than its goalie.

Just my two cents.

I think what you say was true about the first and third period, but not during the second. I think Norwich had a lot of good shots from good locations during period two, but in the first and third period, SNC definitely dictated the shooting locations in the same way that NU did most of the season.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

This little nugget may take us the rest of the way to thread closure.

As stated previously, the Norwich men's ice hockey team will be opening its season against Division I Dartmouth next year.

The date is now Wednesday, October 26th at Dartmouth.

Get your tickets! ;)

A Wednesday? That makes it harder for people who work. Oh well, I know I'll be there. I'll probably wear a maroon sweater and a green hat, or wear a green jacket and a maroon hat, or...

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

I would assume then that the first day of official practice will be October 15????? What WILL you do with that extra month of hockey?? :D

That is correct. We already got the extra month from the women starting on Oct. 15. They will once again be hosting the East/West Hockey Classic this year on the last weekend in October. Elmira and RIT will be coming out and the Cadets will be joined by Manhattanville as the ECAC East representatives. Predetermined matchups. Should be a doozy of a first four or five days of the 2011-2012 hockey season with the Dartmouth game and then the tournament that weekend!
