Congradulations to Chris Duszynski for being named ECAC East rookie of the week for his fine play against NEC and St. A's.

In reference to college hockey has anyone noticed that the World Women's Hockey Champonship will be held in Burlington in 2012. Just a thought but it is hard to figure that games will be played at Carins when Middlebury and Norwich have such great hockey facilities which are far superior than what there is at UVM. Also both Norwich and Middlebury have good womens hockey programs.

Believe me...we tried.

Just wondering if anyone associated with the games looked at Gutterson and Carins and compared them to Middlebury and Norwich facilities. From the fan's and players point of view it makes no since. Plattsburgh on the other side of the lake also has a nice facility. Got to figure UVM didn't want games at these superior D3 facilities. Games are good for Vermont but the experience could of been greater using the best facilities available.

I think they just prefered to keep it in a centralized location. Plus, I'm sure St. Michael's put together a cheaper cost of using facility charge than Norwich and Middlebury probably did.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Cairns and the Gut are less than 2 miles apart, located in the most densely populated area of Vermont,(if you consider Chittenden County part of Vermont):D and allows easy access to all the amenities. With the available of three rinks at such close proximity, it is a no-brainer. That and the reporters from the Burlington Free Press wouldn't have to use MapQuest to find them.

Yes they came and visited Kreitzberg..and we bid on the games.

I'm thinking if you would have won that bid, you would have honored it, unlike <strike>Hawk</strike> some who make bets and later try to ignore their obligations.

CROSBYNU63 Carins is only an average high school rink. In the Burlington Area some fans prefer Leddy Park in the North End of Burlington. Kreitzburg and Keynon are so far superior to Carins in every way except travel. When the world stage is in Vermont why not showcase your best facilities and programs.

WE TRIED!

Ask USA Hockey why they picked Cairns over us and Middlebury.

I always thought Hawk was a plant to irritate NU fans, but now that I see how he spells "congratulations", I am sure it is really WillieC or Neumeyer in disguise or at the least they sicced him on us.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

As I have said before Hawk is just a lost Puppy who does not have a yard to play in. He does not like to play in UVM,s yard because they have lost to much. He can,t play in Middlebury,s yard because Willec kicked him out. He,s not allowed in Norwich,s yard because he won,t buy a Bone:D:D:D for bull dog Charlie. So may be he will jump into Castleton,s yard and be their Mascot.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

yes please send him to Castleton. You forgot one thing, he changed his handle from 4NU to Hawk in an attempt to hide.:D:D:D:rolleyes:

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

The only problem we had was $, they just did not want to pay what we needed to hold the tournament. They loved Kreitzberg and everything about the location, just tooooooooo much money.

If all the non-NCAA programs at your rink are not USA Hockey registered, you have a problem.

The only thing I have against UVM and Gutterson is the fact that it is a very dated D1 hockey facility. The rink basically is unchanged in over 40 years and still has bleacher seating in most of the rink. The University is long overdue to upgrade both its B-ball and hockey facilities. Plus reserved seats at $20. per ticket.

Cann't wait for the second battle of Vermont-Castleton/Norwich coming up in a few weeks. i am afraid a lot of Norwich fans are going to be dissapointed when they try and get tickets for the game of the year in the state. These tickets will be almost impossible to get.

Myabe hawk is still searching for Carins arena on mapquest.......

How are you planning on getting yours?

Also, why should the Gut update? It's one of the true old time hockey barns left in the country. Why does everything have to be state of the art facilities. Old rinks that are properly maintained are great and what college hockey should be all about. Leave the state of the art new arena stuff to the pros.

Im the past year or so there has been talk of a new facility with a new rink and basketball court.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

That's all Vermont taxpayers need, another $50+ million for UVM campus improvements. I'm sure the folks outside Chittenden county will be happy to contribute their $$ for that.

Okay Peach ... enough Chittenden County trashing! Some of us call it home and ARE PROUD OF IT! If I hear it isn't part of Vermont one more time I think I'm going to scream!

I spoke with Dave Ogrean of U-S-A Hockey today and he said the thing they like is everything within very close proximity ... Burlington has hotels, facilities and fans all within close range ... as to our great D-3 buildings they don't want to have to travel forty minutes (Middlebury) or an hour (Kreitzberg) to games. Clearly those are better facilities but they say that wasn't their number one criteria ... Frankly I would have thought that they might have gone with Leddy (bigger capacity) as the backup rink ... but the people at Cairns run a good house (the hole in the ice the night the Cadets were there not withstanding) ... and they'll do a good job.
