Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.
Sounds like another Klinger

The third goalie for the Cadets is Sean Gerich ... he was 1st Team All State HS Hockey Goalie in Illinois at St. Rita High in Chicago, leading them to the state championship, winning the title game 3-1 before almost 7,000 fans at the United Center.
On the season he went 30-3-3 with a 1.75 goals against average and 4 shutouts.
He is a Rook in the Corps ... class 2014.
Gerich making some key saves gave Rita the momen-
tum. The offense came from two unexpected sources.
Within 45 seconds freshmen Keith Burchett and Chris
Foley would score to make it a 3-1 lead. At the end of
two the shots on goal were NTG 21 Rita 7 but a 3-1 lead
for Rita. NTG came out with a mission at hand scoring
two goals to tie the game up at 3 in the third period. At
the 5 minute mark Hero Henry (Capouch) snipped the
goalie to give the team a 4-3 lead. Both teams would
play their hearts out for the rest of the time. A clear out
of the zone with six seconds left gave the Mustangs a
W.
The team mobbed goalie Gerich, who had made 35
saves, and were heading to the United Center to play
either Marist or Loyola Gold. Loyola rolled over Marist
winning 6-1, leading to a battle of Northside vs. South-
side on the Westside.
Seems he is quite the writer, even having to write about his own performance (page 7 here).

Nice to see the Norwich Hockey team participating in the Labor Day Parade today. The Town people certainly enjoyed seeing the players and a number of the players were shaking hands with the spectators. These boys are a class act and appreciate the support they receive from the locals.
Another thing which was also very impressive was looking down the parade route and seeing the long line of Corp of Cadets marching through town

. . . Minnesota and Mass, I'd say the top Illinois teams are on par with Michigan and Wisconsin. The team St. Rita beat in the state semis, New Trier, is often ranked in the top 20 nationally (but how accurate can national high school rankings be anyways?) . . .
You have no idea how good Kyle Thomas is, then. Even I could earn an assist by putting the puck on his stick - and I can't really skate![]()
Norwich University: Get used to seeing my ugly mug.![]()
See ya in a few weeks.
This is a little late, but, welcome to the "Hill" Prez. I am sure you will enjoy being part of the Norwich family.
I don't know what Charlie's role will be now that Prez is there, but in case it changes, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the information and insights he has provided these last few years. It has been great to have someone with cadet and Norwich background on the inside keeping us expatriates (sp?) informed. Hope it continues!
In spite of what Hawk says, we appreciate your info. I would not be anxious to give info to someone who owes me a steak dinner either.
Charlie is being elevated to Sports Information Director.
