Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

Great weekend of NU hockey right up to the moment the lights went out---with five minutes to go into overtime. What a shame but clearly nice to see NU back in the hunt and scoring some goals. The real test comes Friday with the Cards. Go Cadets.

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

I finally made it home on leave and wasn't able to watch this weekend, but in reading the write-ups I am feeling a lot more optimistic about this season with our firepower coming back into the lineup for this semester. An 8-0 win against an inferior opponent and competing right with the defending national champ is the standard that this program has set for itself.

Norwich is certainly a better team with 20 and 22 in the lineup. No doubt.

The question is...how good can the team be most likely having to go on the road for TWO rounds of the NEHC playoffs and HAVING to win the league tourney in order to make the NCAAs.

Four of the five losses this year have been to top 10-ranked teams in the country, two of them in overtime and three of the five losses were by one goal.

It's not doomsday, this team still has talent, especially when healthy. The question is can it get by Babson and UMass-Boston on the road? UMB has been a house of horrors for Norwich the last five years.

Great effort by the Cadets against Trinity who I view as one of the top teams in the East. WDEV analyst Corey Gustafson who played at Harvard and pro hockey for several years said the Cadets still needed work on team defense. I concur especially against a talented team like Trinity.

Prez any comment on Trinity offensive system with tended to cycle players in the zone and always placed payers in a good position for a shot. Sort of reminds me of the Plattsburgh system only better. Trinity was forechecking 3 guys most of the time to gain puck possession.

I agree . Can Norwich get by Babson or Umass. It was amazing to watch 20 on the ice. For my eyes he is far and above everyone out there when he starts to skate. He seems to see everything coming and where it is going before any one else does. Norwich now has a chance, but they have a lot of work to do. Trinity was the better team in my opinion. It was nice to run with them, but they did dominate overall. Second period not so much but they were fun to watch. Norwich had a hard time getting past the Blue line and they were not able to pick up the floaters that were out in front of the goal very well. It was really nice to see 20 and 22 out there , cause I think the score would have been 8-0 with out them.

The NU defense has been a work in progress this year due to the loss of three key pieces last year in the graduating seniors, as well as dealing with some injuries. It's a very young unit that has been exposed at times against the better teams. But don't forget, forwards have to do their jobs and back check as well and not put the D in terrible situations with costly turnovers.

It's a team game.

Norwich is a couple of bounces away from being 12-2 right now and potentially the #1 team in the East. With 20 and 22 back, it's an improved team that can play with anyone. Can they do it on the road twice as I said is the biggest question now.

Hey Prez, only a technicality I know but shouldn't the Trinity game go officially into the books as a tie since the winning goal came 41 seconds after the appointed five minutes of OT?

We're looking into it, but we believe it's going to be counted as a loss right now.

My understanding is that because it's an NCAA-approved expirimental procedure, the result counts. I could be wrong, though.

Re: Norwich 2015-16 - 17 straight ECAC East titles and counting....

Should be a loss -- NCAA allows pretty much any single-OT format, that's been agreed upon by both teams, to count. Double-OTs (Such as the NCHC's new 3x3 2nd OT), shootouts, etc, don't count for NCAA purposes.

Oddly, I heard a radio ad for Norwich...here in Denver...on a hip-hop station. ***?

I really, really hope that they're not going the route of SNHU. I'm sure that would be profitable, but it seems like misdirection.

I highly doubt Norwich University will be looking anything like SNHU in the near or distant future. It could be as simple as a Norwich Alum exists somewhere in Colorado that is a higher up in the radio industry and still has ties to Norwich.

Cards rolling into Kreitzberg tonight has got me antsy at work. Can't wait for another classic. Hoping for another hard fought match like the Primelink Championship. In my opinion that was one of the better Norwich games when they were neck deep in injuries. With 20 and 22 back it should be a barn burner. Go Cadets!

Because of the nature of the school, Norwich recruits nationally (and internationally). There are currently quite a few students from Colorado. Lots of kids out there looking for military colleges, particularly Air Force "brats". Very logical to advertise out there.

One thing about NU, if they're spending money on something, you can bet they've done thorough research on the cost-effectiveness of it.

NU Pastime, any Norwich ads in St. Louis? *I know you're not there now
