Norwich 14-15

Re: Norwich 14-15

As I have watch McShane's teams over the years the things that seem to give them fits are strong multi-player forechecking, and anticipating their diagonal passing lanes up ice, forcing them to pass up the outsides of the ice.
Castleton did it quite well last week, and it has been successfully used by other opponents in the past.
Watching Babson tonight I was afraid Jamie Rice had read my post. They used it effectively tonight as well, especially the multi-player aggressive forechecking.

Those ol' dancing shoes are in the closet somewhere!!! Got a week to find them!!!

I had a commitment and missed the first period. An own goal... tell me it isn't so! Very uncharacteristic.

I missed the first period, too. Scoring on yourself with an open net can't be something that happens very often. Good thing it became a moot point.

Congrats to the seniors for making it to the dance all 4 years. Six straight years the Cadets have made it. Certainly helps for recruiting.

Sure didn't feel moot at the time. Down 2-0 in the first was not the start we all hoped for.

Re: Norwich 14-15

They way I see it, no matter what happens in Amherst today, we should be home for at least the first game. Maybe even two.
A huge win in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Norwich 14-15

I think the key to beating Norwich is to attack for 60 minutes. Norwich's game plan is based on puck possession and outshooting the opposition by a huge margin. Get 25 shot on Norwich's net and you stand a good chance of winning.

A very accurate pre-game assessment. From what I saw, NU controlled the puck....out shot the Beavers by 50% (31 SOG)....Babson only got off 20 shots.

Besides that fluke ENG.... three things will always stick out in my mind about this game. First, of the 31 shots that NU took--Murray made about four or five absolutely impossible--and never to be forgotten--saves. He is a gem. Second, while the refs kept their whistles in their pockets and it was clearly rough and tumble game--it was all that without being chippy. Some really hard hits for sure. But most of all, in the post game hand shake--more than once did I see NU and Babson players sincerely congratulate one another with pats on the back and solid handshakes. Actually gives one hope that sportsmanship isn't dead. Great game--from two great clubs. Thanks Babson for a great season--and good luck Cadets going forward.

Re: Norwich 14-15

It is so nice to be sitting around on a Sunday afternoon after the ECAC Championship and relaxed and not on pins and needles thinking..... they deserve an at-large bid but anything can happen in those smoke filled rooms.....
