Norwich 14-15

Re: Norwich 14-15

No complaints here...but does anyone have an idea on why UMass-Boston's Stephen Buco didn't take Player of the Year honors? He leads the whole league in points with 14 goals and 30...that's right 30 assists! Transfer from UMass-Lowell...so not a huge surprise he's done well. Love Pelletier, just curious what goes into these choosings. Pelletier only played 13 games and still had great numbers so maybe that's why? I know it's not all about the stats either but just a little curious..

Re: Norwich 14-15

Nothing taken away from Pelletier. Amazing Player that is definitely worthy of the Award. Love watching him play and am hoping for a strong playoff performance and another 2 years of him.

Re: Norwich 14-15

Hard to say why Buco didn't take player of the year. It's obvious that stats alone don't win that award. Maybe being a DI transfer had something to do with it - but that's merely speculation - I have no idea if that factors into the mix.

It's been a couple of seasons since the Cadets have had a true standout individual. It seems like the team has almost been re-branded into more of a cohesive, team-focused and balanced squad. Whether that's by design or not, you'd have to ask McShane. For years it seemed like we always had one star (any many times more than just one) - the guy who had a chance to make it to the big time - Aucoin, Bellemare, Mclean, Kashirsky, Thomas, Cotnoir. The guys who seemed like talent-based leaders on the ice and who dominated the competition individually. The team hasn't looked that way for a couple years, and that's not a bad thing. This years team has shown that cohesive play can still result in a jaw-dropping record. From the start of the season, what has constantly resonated has been how well balanced the scoring has been. Since mid-season, if anyone has inched ahead as the go-to guy when the game is on the line, Pelletier has been that player. Who knows, with a couple years left he may establish himself as another one of the truly greats - we are fortunate that he is only half way through his career.

Looking forward to the playoffs - anything can happen.

Hey Prez

Any way the Norwich can free some games off the schedule to participate in the Prezidential Cup? This annual series between Elmira, Oswego, and Norwich will have each team play each other once. The winner of the series will hold the Prezidential Cup for the next year.

The "Western" teams would come to Norwich and play over one weekend in one year and Norwich would visit the two schools in the other year, also on one weekend. The annual game between Oswego and Elmira would be the third game. In the event of a game tie, there will be an NCAA shootout to decide Prezidential Cup points.

Sounds like a great way to open the season! :)

I'll see what I can do for 2016-17. Norwich is locked into open the season at home vs. Nichols in 2015-16.

Re: Norwich 14-15

Speaking of Norwich I thought Dean Niezgoda would make at least the ECAC East second team. He is one of Norwich's go to players and is dominate on the ice.

On talent Norwich had Ty Reichenback, Alec Brandrup and Kevin Salvucci on the ECAC East all rookie team so you could say they are reloading. In my opinion Braeden Ostepchuk should of made one of the teams but maybe they didn't want 2 goalies from Norwich.

Steven Bucho of UMASS Boston is very dominate but I will leave it up to the experts to pick the MVP. For the game tonight they are predicting snow again and anyone who has driven in Vermont this winter must expect that the roads will not be in great condition. 1-3 is predicted during the day and another 1-3 at night. I89 during a snowstorm is dangerous with the trucks going 70+ MPH.

Reichenbach was named to the ECAC East Second Team not the Rookie Team.

Ostepchuk was submitted for the Rookie Team but was beaten out by USM and Castleton tenders.

Any chance Norwich can play Dartmouth again this fall. For the fans it was one of the interesting games seeing how D1 and D3 talent match. Brought a good crowd to Dartmouth too.

2 periods 7 minutes of shot after shot blocked, saved, or wide/high. Good job by the (way better than 4-18) USM goalie Kyle Shapiro. And finally we started looking like a contender again in the 3rd.

Bring it on, should be an awesome game even if I am watching it from snowless Florida. Hope everyone up North is staying warm.
Wait a minute -- 3 weekends of ECAC-E playoffs? That's a 6 week post season if you make it to Ridder.

Re: Norwich 14-15

Watched a little bit of vintage Puckvoice today. I watched some of the 1987 semi-final game between Plattsburgh and Bemidji that I have on VHS. Stafford ice arena was vintage as well...I can't believe how low the side glass was ! Hope to get back to it tomorrow and watch the Championship game as well.....even though the NCAA says it didn't happen !

No, the NCAA didn't see it didn't happen, they just sent it on a vacation ;)

You have the trophy that proves it does. All you have to do is raise the banner.

Anyways, playing a streaking rival whom we have already soundly beaten twice makes me nervous.

Castleton definitely will be looking to play spoiler and with their goalie and coach they could certainly steal a game. Gotta come to play every night now.
