Norwich 14-15

Re: Norwich 14-15

Lets Go! Excited for the game tonight, everyone warm those cars up, bundle up and head over the Kreitzberg for some great hockey! Gotta get out and support these boys tonight, should be a good one.

Re: Norwich 14-15

Does anyone have any sense of what type of crowd Castleton will bring into the 'berg tonight? I've noticed in recent years that visitor support has really been lacking, though some of that is likely because the interlock schedule is no more. I remember some solid crowds out of Middlebury and Bowdoin, and Plattsburgh was typically well represented as well.

Anyone predicting any upsets coming from Southern Maine or UNE? I certainly wouldn't be upset.

I'm thinking Castleton will bring some supporters out tonight. And I believe UNE will win one of the games this weekend. Hoping it's UMass...

Re: Norwich 14-15

Castleton is doing a fine job of highlighting why I can't stand them. A slew foot and a check to the back of the head on Pelletier are just the two most prominent examples.

Pelletier seems now to be every team's easy target. I have never gotten the thinking that if somehow you cannot stop superb skill with equal skill--then hurt the guy. Makes no sense. :( Great job Cadets as Castleton State seemed to spend too much time worrying about Pelletier--while two Freshmen scored NU's three goals.:)

Meanwhile I wanted to acknowledge the job that Tanner is doing as George Como's color guy. Both color guys have done a superb this season adding some strong insights to George's always outstanding game call.

And finally, tonight's win I believe gives Mike McShane his 672nd collegiate wins--one game away from tying (at 673) as the 7th all time coaching leader at the college level. What a guy and what a team. Congratulations to all. Next up...Skidmore.

Re: Norwich 14-15

Great weekend. It's always nice to beat Castleton in anything, be it hockey, football, or women's tennis, and shutting them out is all the nicer. Great performance by Reichenbach. He wasn't tested often, which provides a challenge in itself, but when he was he made some really impressive saves. The score was 3-0, could have been more as we missed some opportunities, but it also could have been less as Castleton just seemed to pass up some opportunities.

I didn't see the competitive game against Skidmore coming, and didn't even turn it on until it was already 2-1, but it provided the Cadets a challenge which they haven't really had for a few weeks. It also provided us an entertaining game to watch. Nice to see Matik come off the bench and get some meaningful minutes and a big win. Onward to Boston, where I'll finally get to watch a game in person.

It was also great to hear Charlie on the broadcast this evening, even though any attempt at anything resembling neutrality goes out the window ;).

Nice win for the 6-3 win over Skidmore on senior day. Class act by Paula Gills for learning the Slovenia national anthem and singing it for Matic Marinsek on senior day. I was surprised that Matic did not start in goal. After the Cadets went up 2-0 in the first I thought OK lets get one more goal and start the 2nd with a 3-0 lead and in comes Matic. As we all know things can change quickly and Norwich takes some penalties and goes down 3-2 in the 2nd. Coach McShane calls a time out and pulls his goalie and puts in Matic. The players during the time out have a team huddle and come out playing like team that has decided they will get the win for their senior goalie. Norwich goes on to win 6-3.

Re: Norwich 14-15

Norwich has a 4 point lead over Umass-Boston going into the the last weekend at Babson and UMass-Boston. They only need one more point to clinch the league title. These are always difficult road games for the Cadets. In the worst case how will the tie breaker work out if the Cadets lose both games and UMass-Boston win both. Both teams will have 16-2 records and each team will be 1-1 in in head to head and also have a lose to Babson?

It comes down to goals against and Norwich has a healthy lead in that tiebreaker right now.
