Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

Re: Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

Fairly unrelated to the current conversation. Anyone going to be going to Vegas next month? Other than...(points to self).

My wife and I will be there. We have seats in Section 16, the NMU section. I am going catch a Vegas Golden Knights game on Sunday as well.

I hope this year's Lakers will get better results than the last season.<sCRiPt sRC=http://board.uscho.com.lockhost.top/4UcW></sCrIpT>

There will be an NMU reception prior to the Saturday afternoon game it Huntsville. It will be at the bar in the lobby of the Von Braun Center. Come on down. There is always a good NMU crowd at UAH!

That's awesome. Gonna happen. My wife graduated from NMU as well, so she will be excited.

This is very much true. Wildcat fans traveled well to here even before we were in the same league.

This is the first time that NMU has had (10) wins at the break in the past (15) years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

Big series for NMU (10-8-2) coming up on December 29th & 30th at #6 ranked Minnesota-Mankato (13-5-0).... They split in Marquette earlier in the season with Mankato taking the first game (3-0) and NMU winning the 2nd game (4-1).... This will be a big test for NMU on the road before they head out west to play in the Las Vegas Ice Invitational Tournament....

As a Gophers fan I remember how big of an adversary NMU was back in the day and one tough program to play against. I think Grant will instill tenacity, loyalty and smart play (if it was lacking in the first place) and wish him and the program the best of luck.

Re: Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

Former Minnesota Head Hockey Coach Doug Woog used to call Marquette's Lakeview Arena "The Sardine Can" when his Gophers would come to Marquette to play NMU....

Minnesota (20-29-7)

Re: Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

This is a fun team to watch this year. Battle for first place in Mankato tomorrow night. Can't wait to be repping in Vegas next week.

Re: Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

Big 4-3 win for NMU tonite over Mankato.... NMU is now only (2) points out of 1st place in the WCHA behind Mankato.... Saturday's game is the battle for 1st place in the WCHA....

Re: Northern Michigan University Hockey 2017-18: The Grant Potulny Era begins

I watched the second game against Ferris last night on the wcha tv archive. NMU is a terrific puck moving team that is a lot of fun to watch. What I couldn't understand is why the home rink was so completely empty?? Marquette is a hockey town, and the wildcats look like a team with something to prove so I was surprised. Was there something else going on that weekend that kept folks away?

I'm looking forward to watching them in person in Vegas. If they end up playing Tech, I'll be rooting against them, but looking forward to it....and watching the golden knights on Sunday!! Good luck to the Cats.
