Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

Well I was wrong. Were not in the tournament at all. UConn is instead. I could have sworn we had been told NU would be in the Dartmouth tournament at an old FOH meeting. Must have gotten my information crossed. In any case, Im sorry to have posted wrongly.

No worries! Very curious to find out what coach has to say at the FOH meeting and maybe they did have a change in plans or it simply was 2020.

Any word on who the other 3 OOC opponents would be? I got beanpot (2) friendship four (1) @union (2) @SCS (2) so that leaves 3 games all probably at home.

Turns out we are playing Dartmouth after all. Dartmouth @ Matthews Arena 12/14

I have been trying to figure out who the last OOC opponent is and I've narrowed it down to Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Army, Canisius, Colgate, AIC, and RPI based on schedules already known and teams owing return visits assuming its happening this year.

Thoughts?

If I was forced to choose from that list I would say Colgate and Army are probably the most likely, but I wouldn't put money on it being a team listed there.

Penn State would be a fun school to play but there's no reason to believe it's a Big Ten school.

We can rule out Notre Dame as they are playing Air Force as their last OOC mystery team.

Jayden Struble crushed the scouting combine, placing first in 5 different drills: Bench press, Wingate Mean Power Output, Grip Strength Left and Right hand, and standing long jump. He also placed in the top 5 for the vertical/squat/no arm jumps.

that is all well & good (especially for him), but what does it mean for NU? Does this mean he will spend a yr in the BCHL then hit campus the foll season.. or have we lost him? thx

With Notre Dame playing Air Force, Army and OSU in the Ice Vegas tourney ... we can rule them out for a two game series. It's looking more and more like it's going to be AIC, RPI, or Colgate unless we have two 1 game series with two different teams then that opens it up to a whole bunch of possibilities

He'll spend a year in the BCHL for Victoria (Same team that Riley Hughes and Jeremie Bucheler played for) and will enroll to NU in 2020.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

NU will be @Union 10/11 and 10/12. It's looking more and more likely the last 2 OOC games will be v. RPI. It's possible it'll be Colgate or AIC but Colgate is @UML 10/18 and 10/19 which should be a NU home wknd series and AIC usually plays teams just 1 time, if that's the case then NU just may have 2 diff opponents for 1 game.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

If NU at Union is true, I could easily make it a three day weekend instead of driving an hour each way. Stay in Schenectady at night and go to Saratoga during the day.

NU will announce their schedule on Tuesday - they are announcing a lot of their sports schedules next week throughout the week.

My final prediction for the 2 unknown OOC games are AIC and maybe Army if it's just a 1 game series.

BC's schedule yesterday revealed that Harvard and BC are not returning their games v Bentley this year so that opens the door for NU to play them. I hope not and we play a new team / teams I mentioned earlier.

I think i read somewhere that NU was returning to Ireland nxt season for the Belpot..

You heard right! NU along with UNH, Colgate, and Princeton. I made the trip in 2015 and had one heckuva time. Hoping that the NU powers that be sponsor an organized trip like Yale and BU did last year. In addition to the games, lots of sightseeing and pub crawling in both Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic.

NU will play UNH in a HEA league game while the other two play an ECAC league game the first night. Winners meet the next night for the championship. Losers get a consolation game.

Man I hope not. While I am itching to see their new arena (planned to go this year anyway), I'd love to play a new team. Army would be a dream come true for me

Schedule has been released. Click this link: https://twitter.com/GoNUmhockey/status/1138476209405227008

I'll put a blog post up later on our thoughts but here's some to start:

- Going to Maine between the Beanpot games is rough

- Drawing BU, PC, and UMass as 3 of our extra games is bologna.

- Home OOC games of Dartmouth, Bentley, and Holy Cross

- SUPER tough end to the season.
