didn't Divver also comment he heard B Van Riemsdyk was transfering from UNH to NU? if true, that would be for immediate, (2019 season) right? not up to speed on the grad tsfer rules.

BVR would be coming in this fall. With the grad transfer rules, the student athlete does not need to sit out a year.

thx, makes sense. also fontaine, a very good get.

per jeff cox, eetu selanne & bobby hampton looking to tsfr out. selanne, clearly in over his head at this level legacy family & all.. big diff between him & a madden type. will do him better to go to a place where he can get more playing time & improve/ be more productive. wishing them both well.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

Northeastern got a verbal from a top '05 forward just before the new recruiting rules went into effect overnight. Here's the commitment post for Will Smith:

And here's a thread in which I looked into the historical rates of "underage" Hockey East recruits (<16 years at time of commitment) and how many of those players kept/are keeping those commitments.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

...In another note, read Robby Griffin signing with UNH... something NU did not like about his development? Did he/ family want to come earlier?.. just curious why it did not work out...

BVR coming in as a grad transfer means someone got squeezed out. Looks like Griffin, assuming he expected to play this Fall. So in pro terms, looks like NU traded a prospect for a veteran.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

I don't think Griffin was ever expected before 2020. Just a case of a player wanting to come in before he was ready and before the school planned to or was able to accommodate him, perhaps helped by another school putting dreams in his head.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

If and when he arrives on campus, Gunnarwolfe will immediately be enshrined in the NU Hockey All-Name Hall of Fame, alongside such all-time great names as Walt Diamondstone, Carl LeBoeuf, Don Whynot, Jared Mudryk, and of course, Biagio Lerario. :p

No love for Dave Buda? (I think I got it right...) :D

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2018-19: New Breed, Old Snarl

Jean Francois and Dave Buda (aka Buddha or The Buddha) have been enshrined in the All-Name Hall of Fame for many years. (I was just trying to limit the length of the original post since it's off-season and we can't be late for our tee times.) Also enshrined are the likes of Gaspare Capizzo (a really good goalie), Chauncey DelGrosso, Jon (Awesome) Awe, Larry Bone, and Tommy Moon. Colton Saucerman has been nominated.

A separate wing of the All Name Hall of Fame is reserved for nicknames but access to that wing is limited to adults only, since many of the nicknames are not suitable for general audiences. "Mad Dog," "Killer," and "Meatball" are among the G-rated entries (along with the aforementioned "Buddha"). Relatively recent crowd favorite Rob Dongara is in the restricted part of the Nickname Wing.

Well I was wrong. Were not in the tournament at all. UConn is instead. I could have sworn we had been told NU would be in the Dartmouth tournament at an old FOH meeting. Must have gotten my information crossed. In any case, Im sorry to have posted wrongly.
