Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

..ah, thx. Good for them. Wish NU wouldve purchased the Huntington Theater.. great bldg. Read it sold for 25mil to an investor group.. oh well, never a dull moment, these parts.
Doesn't that seem like a lot of $ for the theater?! The deal we should have done would have been to buy Wentworth when it was on the ropes and before it was rescued.

..article said it was for the theater & 2 other smaller retail/ office? spaces.. regardless.. i think (L-T thinking).. NU should have made a run for it.. perhaps they did.. but someone else thought more of it than the U & now they own it. That's surprising considering its in the backyard. You make it back one way or another. They should be buying the stuff around them when it comes up. Perhaps these guys will turn it around & sell.. but NU shouldve been on it first.. my opinion.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

HockeysFuture listed Dylan Sikura as the Blackhawks' most improved player in their system.

Most Improved Prospect: Dylan Sikura, C, Northeastern University (Hockey East)
Taking advantage of a new season, Sikura turned heads for Northeastern during the 2015-16 season. After a subpar freshman campaign that saw him only manage seven points, Sikura scored four times as much during his sophomore year, tallying ten goals and 18 assists in 39 games. Northeastern as a team experienced a great second half of the season, clinching a Hockey East title for the first time since 1988. Though he still has plenty of developing to do, Sikura could be on the right path to becoming a serviceable bottom-six forward.

Thanks for posting. His dad (a defenseman) wore #5, which will become available assuming Benning signs. I suspect that he will take a different # and make his own mark.

Don't forget the Friends of Hockey annual meeting today in the Varsity Club room beginning ~5:30. I hope to see some of you there.

Logan Day and Will Messa won't be returning to the team this fall, per gonu.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

Matt Filipe goes #67 to Carolina in the NHL draft. Nolan Stevens goes 125 to STL, and Jeremy Davies goes 192 to the Devils. 2017 recruit Jamie Armstrong goes undrafted, as does incoming freshman Grant Jozefek.

Michigan State, Clarkson, and then Yale is a really good stretch of the schedule. Good out of conference games.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

:(
We (Merrimack) would gladly take another "Joe Cucci" type transfer!!

That was a case of a real misjudgment by the Cronin administration. He was originally recruited to 'Mack, switched when Cronin came in, then didn't get a fair chance to show what he could do. I think he must have dreamed of the things he could do to us - and then made his dreams come true. He just killed us for the next three years.:(

He was a really nice kid, and though it pained me, I had to smile as he exacted his revenge.

Very nice job on the blog. Nice chart. Good writing.

On your team chart, you probably should push Hampton back a year to the fall of '18. I think Rizzolo may be in the same boat. I also think that we will be looking for another forward for '17 who can contribute immediately as we are expecting to lose, (to graduation or the pros) a lot of firepower.

Kudos to everyone involved with this. It takes a lot of dedication and hard work keeping something like this going but big-boy programs deserve quality independent blogs so thanks for doing your bit.
