Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

The Beanpot fiasco aside, Voss is nowhere close to being the "worst" IMO. But he seemed to enjoy the spotlight too much for my liking.

A month or so after the Beanpot, I had a discussion with a Local/HEA ref who was working a local showcase. He told me in no uncertain terms that Voss took the wrong player off of the ice and that he had actually made the call on Saucerman. I searched Youtube when I got home. If you look at the replay, you can semi see a hook by Saucerman on Eichel. Even that call would have been BS, though.

By the letter of the rule, a weak or half-hook is still a hook, whether or not it interferes with the puck carrier, and can legitimately be penalized. But top-notch referees prize consistency as much as rule knowledge. In this case, the alleged hook was marginal at best. Similar tactics were employed repeatedly by both sides throughout the game but were not judged significant enough to warrant a penalty call by either referee throughout regulation. But all of a sudden, the same marginal action became a penalty in OT, at least in Mr. Voss's eyes. The issue wasn't the call itself but rather the fact that it was wholly inconsistent with the penalty standard that had been established and maintained throughout regulation.

Voss knows his stuff but I question his judgment in marginal situations with a big game on the line.

Benning Watch is over, he's finally signed an ELC with the Oilers.

I have a question for the NE faithful: I want to come out to the game on 11/25 against Minnesota and as of now, single game tickets are not available on the NE Athletics website. Anyone know when they put up single game tickets?? Thanks in advance.

Single game tickets will likely be put out once the season begins, possibly even before then. I asked my friend in marketing, and he was unsure, so no definitive date right now. With the game being over Thanksgiving break tickets will not be hard to come by at all for you.

Try calculating 3 to the 3rd power. I believe his intention is to "retire" from D1 hockey and to finish his degree this year.

No doubt a difficult decision. However, in the long run for most these players getting that degree is the most valuable part of their college experience. I am glad to hear that he is still pursuing that goal.

September 12th at noon. As was said above though, that game isn't going to sell out, everyone will be too busy Black Friday shopping, so you don't need to rush to get them right when it opens or anything.

Also, if anybody is interested, an email went out today that we have a Frozen Fenway presale going on the Red Sox' website. Presale code ONEPACK.

That could very well be but his "degree" won't be from Northeastern.

Perhaps I have the wrong impression. If he transfers to another institution, and gives up a chance for an NU degree, (which is more valuable than ever), he is thinking with something other than his head!

This is gonna be a fun game.
Will definitely be at Matthews for this one

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2016 Offseason Thread: Building Momentum

If there is any merit to this, we can conclude it's not Stevens/ZAR/Collier. Hedges is returning from injury, so I doubt it's him. Kurker I also cannot see as he plays every game. Reduces possibilities to Pond, Jameison, or Rosenthal- I think the last name is more likely than the first two. But we'll see if anything comes of this "rumor"
Apparently it was Hedges.
