Northeastern Huskies 2015 Off-Season Thread: Unrequited Love

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015 Off-Season Thread: Unrequited Love

NCAA hoops tournament win or a Beanpot championship - which would you prefer? My cousin tweeted that question out at the start of the basketball game and I thought it was an interesting question.

Beanpot! Even as I watch the NC$$ hoops.

Ouch. Was pulling for ya. Nobody wanted to take the shot. Not good.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015 Off-Season Thread: Unrequited Love

Beanpot. One is a trophy, the other is just a date to play more overpowered teams until one eventualy beats us. The only reason to pick bassketball would be national publicity, and we aren't exactly BC in that department, but we're not desperate for applications by a longshot.

I would say Beanpot as well but I' m biased towards hockey. Great effort from bball today, I wish we had a timeout to set up that last possession.

This x 100. And I'm as biased as you'll find for hockey, I know. But one has a spot in Boston and college hockey lore, one gives us an extra 40 min of fame against a far superior opponent. Kids have said they came to NU for the beanpot. No one says they came to win AN NCAA tournament game. No one remembers who got bounced in the round of 32 last year. Or the year prior. Or the 10 years prior. But you'd be able to say who won the beanpot. Beanpot every day of the year, twice on Monday :D

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2015 Off-Season Thread: Unrequited Love

I'm a hockey guy first, last, and always. But before I'm a hockey guy, I'm a Northeastern guy. So credit where it's due. A stick tap to our basketball cousins who found a way to pull their season back from the brink and come within a bounce and a break of pulling off a stunning upset on national TV. (BTW, was that Cameron Voss who made that ridiculous foul call on Zach Stahl with the game on the line?)

Roy was first team All-HEA, while Benning got an honorable mention, which I suppose equates to a top 5-6 defenseman. Hedges also co-won the sportsmanship award with Michael Sit yesterday, though nobody mentioned it.

Pretty cool that the Hobey presentation will be at Matthews before the Frozen Four at the Garden. Unfortunately, I think the award is going to a bu terrier...

I don't like basketball but I was rooting for NU watching the final minute. Turned it on just in time to see them pull an NU at the end. No shot attempt.

"Additionally, Boston College’s Michael Sit and Northeastern’s Dalen Hedges will receive the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award."

Weird, the Hockey East official press release graphic thing shows pretty clearly that Sit won and Hedges is runner up, but who knows which website is most reliable.

Well, to channel mookie for a moment.....the Hockey East PR guy is a BC alum so maybe he did that on purpose! :p Congrats to Dalen!

Cameron Voss officiating the Hockey East championship game. A good indication of where Hockey East ranks him among their officials. Pretty sad in my opinion.

Weird that Bunyon or Benedetto aren't on the ice.
