Just watched Cronin on TV, behind the bench with Wilson & the Leafs.. tough going so far. Nice job by the Bruins.

..reading the stats, i see the same guys (line), for us on all of MCs goals so far (save the empty netter).. i could be wrong.
Anyway, giving up that first one on PP.. gotta stay out of the box early & often tomorrow. Gaudreau might put on his 'Rau' act..like Minny did tonight.
Let's learn quick, team. Let's try get something going Saturday.

As for coaching, I think Madigan will be good, but why would he pull Rawlings? That was a head scratcher, even the NU announcers thought so.
wow, that didn't take long, like 30 seconds after the game? Face it, NU got beat by a better team in all aspects of the game. Like I posted before, MC has better forwards (outshot the Huskies 47-28) better D (2 goals from the MC back line), better goalie (which team pulled their starter in the 3rd?) and home ice advantage.

I wasn't there and I'm not a big Rawlings guy, but I suspect the removal of Rawlings tonight was a coaching maneuver designed to send a message to the rest of the NU squad. Feedback from any in attendance?

In the end, Rawlings didn't play poorly and NU didn't completely fall apart, but MC just outworked them in all three zones...
No doubt in my mind that the Mad Dog pulled him after the third goal, took the time out and wanted to shake things up for his team. Initially, it seemed to work as the lone goal NU scored on the night came a couple of minutes later from Ludwig von Karlsson.
In the end, Rawlings didn't play poorly and NU didn't completely fall apart, but MC just outworked them in all three zones...

I was there, & it was ugly and I do mean all 3 periods. It was not nearly as close as 4 to 1. Why did he pull Rawlings?..beats me, my opinion is Dave perhaps knew the game was over and wanted to get Witt some time. Did he think the 3rd goal was soft? Who knows they might have been looking ahead, but Merrimack #13 was better tonight in all aspects of the game. I think Chris was actually one of the best players on the ice, the issue is he had like 35 shots in 45 minutes. Lots of bad D tonight. Like I mentioned there will be flashes of great hockey but this is a 6th or 7th place team. Thus, you likely won't see big improvements as other teams above us have more talented players, faster, bigger just better, but we could play better and win a big game every now and then. We could do that tomorrow against BC or we could lose by 6 goals. We should just enjoy what we have on a shift to shift basis, also not playing Dongara does have some down side…He has little hockey sensibility for a team game, but is a legitimate scoring threat by himself and we had opportunities for breaks through a clear neutral zone but he only skaters talented enough to move the puck with the velocity to match the Warriors D were perhaps Karlsson and Saponari, both of whom played well tonight. I am going out on a limb here but Vinny is far more talented skater and stick handler , in my opinion than anyone else on this team, I think he is held back in some aspects because his talent is not really matched on his line. I would bet he is frustrated On a bright note Justin looked pretty good again, but I would be lying if I told you that I wish we had Gaudreau playing on a line with Saponari. Anyway, onward and upward. We can hope for a better outcome tomorrow during a Mathew’s sellout. Let’s rock the barn!

Your superior goaltender was yanked after allowing a third goal (probably for motivation). Yep. All in all, it looks like the HE coaches and media know more about hockey than you do. Merrimack was far superior in all aspects of the game. Go find your hole.

I think we can overlook your lack of grace. You are relatively new to the winner's circle. Your team is good and will improve further. OTOH, you have a much longer journey before you can be called a winner.

Nope. I feel my assessment will be true by the end of the season. One game doth not make a season, unless your Merrimack i guess. Go back and read my other posts. I also said NU would lose if they were to busy thinking of their Saturday night game, which shown by the shot chart, they obviously were.
BTW - NU prior to this game was 7-3 against Merrimack over the last 10 games. NU was due to drop one. Enjoy your win.

That gm was still 1-0, start of the 3rd period.. not all bad on the road (until that point) & then a combination of things going wrong for NU, not to mention Merrimack outworking us. On a positive note, nice to see Karlsson get his first collegiate goal. These two teams have a couple more match ups left. Should make for some good chatter. Now, if we can come out with 2 points tonight.. we'll call it a day. Let's get mad & skate smart! Go NU

Also, i'm looking at some tape of the gm.. the 2nd Merrimack goal (early in the 3rd period).. just a bad break for the Huskies. #24 Daniels i think.. takes a stick to the neck & goes down, essentially making it a 5x4 situation for the Warriors. No call, ref prob thought it was unintentional or did not see it. The skater goes in on Rawlings who makes the first save, but the puck gets kicked out to the point where the goal scorer is unmarked for a shot to the left corner.. video is a bit grainy. Good break for them, bad for us with the gm still 1-0. These things are gonna happen in the season.
Rawlings was pulled after that 3rd goal because (i'm assuming), Madigan thought goalie got a good look at it (Bigos was skating laterally/ backwards while taking a wicked slapshot) & Rawlings was on it sliding laterally with the skater.. should have had it. The gm was still within grasp until then.
Merrimack's first goal.. the PP goal was a nice goal with good puck movement. The eventual Karlsson goal for NU was a very nice goal to beat Cannata as well.
All behind us now.. onward.
