Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season
He was high on last years class too, and outside of Roy it stunk. May Saucerman and Gunn can contribute going forward, but man, the Ontario dmen were lost causes, and I cannot remember any of the other forwards outside of the one kid who Madigan described as a power forward who managed 0 penalties on the year. High impact power forward that kid was.
When is a coach not high on his guys? ZAR maybe ready, but for what? He sure did not light the lamp his 3 years prior to coming here, do we really need more defensive forwards? Szmats I am sure will be fun and one and done, based on him already being 21. So not really a building block, not to mention, how hard is he going to try when the season is in the dumpster, its not like he WANTS TO BE HERE! Hedges, all 5'7 of him (maybe) coming out of a league that gave us DD and Farrell on the back. So yeah, he lit it up, but if those guys are considered top dmen in that league, whats he going to do when faced with real competition? You got the one kid on the blue line the Bruins took in the middle rounds, and then a bunch of JAGS. (just another guy). Maybe baby Cody turns into something down the line, and Stevens to me is interesting in a possibly Chris Lynch (for you mid to late 90s guys) kinda way.
Like AC/DC said, its a long way to the top if you want to Rock'N Roll. I dont think JM can even get the band together, let alone put together a hit record. Going to be lots of pick your own sections night at the old barn this season.
I'm looking forward to seeing this freshman class come in and play. Reading your quotes and watching the interview he gave to HE at Media Day, Madigan seems to be quite excited for the new blood. Szmatula, after all the hubbub earlier this summer, will be fun to watch this season. Also looking forward to see ZAR, the Lincoln Stars blog was very high on him, saying he was ready for the college game.
Thanks for all the work you do, very well done!
