Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Penalty called against the Tigers in the last minute of play... definitely a nice break for NU at this point

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Another penalty against CC in the last 7 seconds. 2-man advantage here with 7 seconds left.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

HUSKIES WIN 4-3

GREAT game for Rawlings

GREAT 2 periods of hockey for NU

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Pleased with the split, especially with the PP production and the play of Rawlings tonight, sounds like he played a great game and the d failed him a few times. a little worried with the fact that we put our foot off the gas towards the end, but a win is a win, overall im happy, gotta love the production from the freshmen, especially vrolyk and veermersch.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Rawlings with a 92% save percentage this game... I'll take that. Especially since there really weren't any soft goals this time around.

Great series CC. Glad no season-ending injuries occured this time around.

I'd say things are looking up for NU at this point. Letting up in the last period is definitely a mental thing, and you can bet Cronin is giong to work on that.

BTW, UVM is up 6-4 with 2 minutes left. Love to see HE bringing it... though it means we've got some stiff competition as always

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Good win, gentlemen. Great series by CC as well, I was pumped with Rawlings' play tonight as well as the play of our freshmen overall.

Nicely done.

Congrats

Two pretty evenly matched teams with very similar style of play
Hope we play in Boston next year

Home from the game, must say Rawlings was much better in net tonight. NU really took it to the Tigers in the first. NU deserved to win the game Saturday, they outplayed CC.

Very good weekend of hockey and it sure was a pleasure chatting with the Huskie fans here on the board this week. My best wishes to you and your fine team this season.

Cheers,

I always enjoy playing out of conference games against WCHA opponents. I think this weekend proved that both teams have a lot of talent but also a lot to work on as well if they want to compete for the top couple of spots in their respective conferences. As always, the CC fans on the board had tons of class and were very knowledgable about their team and college hockey in general. Hopefully, we will see you again in a much bigger game at a neutral site.:)

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Is it for sure CC is making the trip to Boston next year? That would be great to see. I like seeing the big western powers when they come out east.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Was a pretty good game last night. I thought the difference was Tyler O'Brien, he looked stoned. He just seemed to react to everything a little slower than everyone else on the ice. He did manage to put the puck right on the tape of the NU player for their last goal so at least his passing was crisp.:o Congrats to NU, they played well.

I'm really hoping CC plays out here next year. I can't guarantee a room in my apartment (the law student needs her space!), but I can guarantee you'll have a great time at Matthews Arena, and we'll be drinking many beers while you guys are here! The NU fans are great, and the Doghouse could certainly teach the CC students a thing or two.

Congrats to the Huskies for earning the split. Now that this series is over, I'm back to cheering for NU, and I'm looking forward to seeing the renovated Matthews Friday night! As for CC, traveling to Wisconsin next week will provide a tough early season road trip, which I think will be good for the young team.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

That we're out of there with two points and valuable experience for a freshmen goaltender leaves me more than happy! See ya on Friday!

Is CC coming here? That'd be nice, I'd consider going over to a game since I've never seen CC as they came to BU once over Thanksgiving break. Nice split for NU, a sweep would've been a PWR killer.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

It has been extremely rare that a Western team will play two straight at NU. What's happened in the past is that there's usually an agreement with BC. The year after we head out there twice, there'll be two back-to-back years where they come to Boston to play one game at BC, one game at NU. After that, BC will head out to that school for two. I know Denver and Wisconsin have done that in the past.

Very well could be, after reading some additional comments by CC officials today I have the feeling that CC will not play two or even one at NU next season. I should see Coach Owen's Tuesday and I'll try to ask him the question.

true, it'd also be rare that a non-crap hockey east team would play 2 out west and not get return games. iirc nu played two at nodak a while back and got two consecutive return games. thats what we did with michigan.

I found it odd that NU played a 2-game set at CC and UVM played a 2-game set at DU. I don't know when these series were scheduled or if this has already been discussed, but it seems like it would've been better for everyone for NU and UVM to both visit CC one night and DU the other.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

I sent an email to CC Athletic Director Ken Ralph awhile back regarding a couple of things. I got a great response from him, but the one thing he did not answer was whether CC will be out in Boston next year to play NU. Lee, if you get a chance to talk to ask Coach Owens about it, let me/us know what he says. I do know that CC's opponents are set through the 2011-12 season (as are many other schools), but I wonder if there is a rule about how far in advance they can disclose that info.
