Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

It's a long and hard battle to rid the world of NE and NEU

Getting rid of NEU is difficult for 2 reasons.

1) The web address is www.neu.edu (at least the athletic website isn't www.goneu.com)

2) I was employed by NU for a number of years and NEU is consistently used internally when referring to the University.....

Back to this weekend....it is all on our freshman goaltenders. I hope Mountain gets at least one period of play

No. See the message below.

Yes I am. Trying to stir the pot. Have some fun. It's been months since I have had any fun like this. Let me have my fun. CC smells funny.

OH YEAH ???????

Any Nor Easters coming to town this weekend?

Tiger fans, what kind of crowds do you expect for the wknd? What is the seating capacity? Will one (or both), nights be sellouts? Just curious..

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

O'Brien is from Stowe, Vt.

St. Paul's School (his prep school) is a boarding school in Concord, N.H.

Swami, thank you for posting the correct information. Hopefully this will be the last time for awhile, but if not I appreciate your effort to get the right info posted.

Cheers, Lee.

Go Tigers!!

I'm waiting to here from JS Tigers to see if he will fly in from Boston. Have you heard from him?

I thought it only smelled east of the Mississippi River?

Capacity with standing room only is close to 8,000. I am certain both nights will not be sell outs.

I pay attention to this so I feel confident in predicting the number of seats sold. For Friday I would say about 5,000 to 5,400 tickets sold. Actual number of fans in the arena about 4,600.

For Saturday, tickets sold should be about 5,400 to 6,000, with about 5,000 actual fans attending.

After the fact: Actual tickets sold for the Friday game was 5,549.

Hey Lee, I was thinking about it, since it's my #1 team vs. my adopted home team. I couldn't pull it off, though.:( I'm hoping to get home for a series at some point this season, though, so we'll have some beers if I do. God, I miss Bristol!

Both teams have some young talent, but it is tough to figure out how good either of them will be. Both lost star goaltenders who really carried their teams at times, which really makes this season a crapshoot in the early going.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

CCtig, thks for the arena cap. info. Back home (here in Boston), both/any of those attendance figures would be very respectable in area college rinks.

I sincerely hope NU (www.gonu.com :)) can feed off of your home crowd's energy on one or both nights... sometimes that's what it takes :)

Your welcome, I think NU (not NE) will come away with at least two points this weekend. Always fun when a far west team and a far east team play each other. In fact I assume CC will play two next season at NU, if that is the case I am already planning a road trip to see both games in Boston.

Excellent Jeremy! Had me a couple fine Bristol brews just the evening while attending the Scotty Owens Coaches Show. Coach from NU sounded good on the show (by phone) and is ready to drop the puck.

Ya, me and a couple guys are flyin in for the series and catching the pats game up in denver on sunday. whats the good word on things to do/places to go pre and post game in CS? any and all recommendations appreciated.

Re: Northeastern at Colorado College 9/10 Oct

That depends on what you're interested in. There is some good outdoor rock climbing in the area, Garden of the Gods is my default suggestion, and there are some good hiking trails just to the west in the foothills and mountains. For pubs the Golden Bee is supposed to be a true classic, but I'm not much of a pub aficionado.

CC Averages 6000+ (paid), and as CCtig pointed out the Friday crowd is usually lighter than Saturday. While the attendance is great, the crowd energy can be hit and miss. The student section in particular has become increasingly boring, and I honestly am a bit embarrassed by their general lack of enthusiasm. To put it lightly, they are no "Doghouse"!

I'm thinking (as you are, too) that CC will be here next year for a series at Matthews. I'll tell ya, Lee, I think you, Ken, and any other CC fans should try to come out here if that happens. Matthews is a place where every fan should see a game if they have a chance. Plus NU fans are a great group!
