Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Where are all the posters (probably only two actually) who said the coaching issue was serious and involves the entire athletic department and everyone knows in the secret inner circles that it's a huge deal and it's very serious? I'm sure they will stop by to say they were wrong right?

Well, this doesn't preclude an NCAA investigation or a finding from them that NU did something wrong. Might make it seem less likely that they'll come down on NU, but there's still been no information about what actually happened, so who knows who is right and who is wrong. Don't discount the idea that the players may have gone to the AD and pushed for him to be reinstated.

Probably not. To Roby, it was a huge deal because if NU gets anymore sanctions in any other sports, the NC$$ could come down hard on them. So at this point, any minor infraction would be a big deal.

And none of anything that's happened precludes the NCAA from doing that. This still could be anywhere in the spectrum of, NU suspended him when hearing about something happening, simply as a precaution, investigated, found what amounts to nothing, lifted his suspension, NCAA accepts suspension as sufficient punishment, all the way up to same precautionary suspension, investigated, found violations, decided to let him back for one reason or another, and the NCAA comes down hard due to repeat violations in the program. If I had to guess, I'd go more on the former side, lifting the suspension after finding anything other than very minor violations would be a baaaaaaaaaad idea.

I can say this, Cronin was spotted by an undercover NU investigator late last week eating at a Panera near campus. Fishy, indeed.

Sources with knowledge close to the situation claim that he's put on 45 pounds, grown a beard, and recently challenged the One Arm Pushup Man to a duel.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

NU should be more disciplined with Cronin back as head coach. The last few games were getting a bit out of hand

The thing is in one announcement they reinstated Cronin and said the final member of the coaching staff will also be suspended, meaning they have determined there was wrongdoing. Otherwise why would Laplante be away from the team for part of the fall?

The real question is why would you be heading into a playoff series with a coach averaging 1 win per 2 attempts versus your upcoming opponent and replace him with one averaging 1 win per 11?;)

ActionJoe, I was one of those posters who said it was serious. If you look back at all my posts from this thread, I reported what I heard. If you go back even further to all the posts I've made, I have had some information right, as well. Like I said in one of my posts on here, I root for all college hockey teams as it is a small knit community. I stand by what I said though. It was more serious than an "over reaction" by AD Roby. If it was just an over reaction, La Plante would not be getting suspended for the same amount of time as Cronin and O'Connell. There was wrong doing and I hope (even as a non-NU fan) that they do not have any sanctions that prohibit them from future post season and/or loss of scholarships. Hopefully it will just be a probation for the hockey program by the NCAA.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

Wow, you're really missing the point about generalizations.

I'm not missing squat. You can trivialize it all you want as if the evidence wasn't clear on both plays. Jumping on someone in a corner isn't generalization, neither is an elbow to the head. Very little to interpret. I was less than 20 feet from both plays. Now clearly you can argue little moot points all you want...but this isn't a question of who actually killed JFK.

::Facepalm::

You said everyone at the game knew he was headhunting, despite posts directly below yours from people at the game proving otherwise.

I responded with an even more absurd generalization to show how silly your post looked... and then you missed the sarcasm and agreed with me:eek:

Fine, "As far as I believe, everyone at the games, not on the other side of the arenas, with a solid knowledge of the rules of hockey, should have known both plays were at the very least, questionable..."

Better? Sorry you took it so literally. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "everyone knew" plenty of times and known it might actually mean, a vast majority or even just alot of people or even a decent amount of people (as technically inaccurate as that obviously is).

Do any NU kids know if they are selling visitor tickets at Blackman? I'm not really big on paying the $8 dollar extra fee (possibly twice).

As for Guzior, dude is a 25-year old husband/father and one helluva goon. Which is funny to begin with. Add in Friday night when he jumped at Nicastro...one of the funniest/most outrageous things I've ever seen at a hockey game. It was also a really stupid play since Nicastro had just matched the original penalty but I'm pretty sure Guz isn't exactly the brightest bulb.

Whenever someone brings up "Goon-zior", I will always first think back to this moment where he catapulted himself at Nicastro.

As for Cro, if the findings were that severe then I find it hard to believe Roby would reinstate him at all this year, I feel like he served his time in the dog house and the punishments shouldn't be that severe. My best guess probation, but it's just a guess, just like we all have.

Re: Northeastern at Boston University HEA Quarterfinals

When I think back on Guzior in the future, I will think of his jump off the top rope onto Nicastro; his OT slap shot past Muse to beat BC; and the smell of fear in the air when he and Dennis McCauley would be hunting down opponents.
Noticed that I got Neg Repped to the max for this post. Is anything I said not true?

i believe he stumbled on some dimes and quarters thrown on the ice by numbskull nu students at the top of 107... this stumbling brought his arms up to make contact with the goon in black, who anticipating the stumble was diving to draw a whistle.

Which ones, the ones with a player's name spelled out on their chests in the balcony at Matthews on Friday? I think it might've been his nickname too, off limits!

What became of Noonan's appeal? Perhaps I should say - of parker's appeal of noonan's dumb penalty?
