Northeastern 2021-22: Our Doggie Dish Runneth Over?

Some good news...Aidan McDonough returning for his senior season.

basically told Vancouver he doesn't want to play for them
They can hold out hope he signs next year instead of waiting till August to be a free agent
Most likely though they will trade him now and get value and he signs with new team
Still early to say he will be back

He will be back

From what I have heard from a really goo source is that Levi is staying at least 1 more year. Obv things can change, but that is what I was told back in Feb.

Nah he's back.

Hmm the Jackson brothers...what happened there? I would say TJS transferring is a good indication Levi is returning though.

I’m very far from being in any sort of loop, but I am very surprised about the Jacksons!

I thought they had a lot of upside and room for improvement this year. A shame injuries got in the way of it, ty was playing some great hockey and bringing a lot of energy the last couple games he was in

Its not like they were getting crowded out of the line up either unless they wanted top minutes. Offense may be challenging next year, however Hughes and colangelo were really starting to play well. Maybe we can pick up someone solid from the portal, but I don’t like this portal business.

Was looking forward to having enough depth next year that the Jackson's likely would have been featured on the 3rd line. Wonder if they saw that too and decided to move to somewhere higher up the line chart with more PP time. As it stands...

McDonough-JHughes-Colangeo
Fontaine-Ritz-Choupani
Demelis-Lund-RHughes
RSL-Outzen-Williams

or something like that. Definitely enough talent to score more than they did this year. Would love another Novak like transfer to bolster that middle six.

Latest from the Transfer Portal:
  • Liam Walsh inbound from Merrimack. Was a teammate of Aiden McDonough at Cedar Rapids.
  • Jackson twins outbound to Arizona State

I’m feeling more and more mixed about the Jacksons leaving. On one hand I’m still super disappointed. They were a lot of fun to watch and it’s a shame injuries bogged them down, and has been an issue for this team in general.

That said if their mindset was that if they weren’t going to be top line or even six then they will find it somewhere else, then good riddance. Their mind set should be I’m going to work my tail off to get top six. I do wish them the best though.

That mentality in general may be missing a bit from the culture, I can’t come up with other reasons the whole squad would have so many periods they don’t show up to this season.

I’d love to be challenged on this take though

One Pack great feedback and you are 100% right on. With their size and build injuries will always be a watch out. Some kids get things handed to them up until college or pro and that is the time to dig in a work hard to make yourself and team better

I'm feeling more and more mixed about the Jacksons leaving...

Ditto. They were indeed a lot of fun to watch but paid a price against the big, physical teams. (Think QPac.) In retrospect, the handwriting was on the wall when Ty played limited minutes after coming back from injury and was an apparently healthy scratch in the second Merrimack, BC, and UConn games. Wish both all the best going forward.

Thrilled that Levi is returning. IMO Struble will probably return too. Montreal had a few young defensemen in the pipeline and then acquired at least one more at the deadline. A clogged route to the lineup and the benefit of another year of development make it seem reasonable for Struble to be back.

Glad Levi is returning, sorry to lose TJ, who might have been the one of the best back ups in the nation, however if LEVI hadn't gone to the Olympics would we or anyone else even know that. I get it he wants and needs minutes. On the Jacksons I'm not so sure we are losing much, I simply never saw them as top line HE producers of 20 pts plus a season because I think they are a bit small, and perhaps injury prone...I certainly didn't see the offensive skating ability thru the neutral zone with power that I would mention existed in every one on our top one and two lines over the past 30 seasons. Good luck to them at AZ state but let's face it, historically, these bros as package deals usually are a boon to one talented bro carrying an avg bro up a level. In this instance I just couldn't tell if that was the case. However, I am thinking no great loss and we will see if they move into a top line at AZ..and produce. The producing is the tough part.
