Northeastern 2021-22: Our Doggie Dish Runneth Over?

Two good Beanpot games and change, one against the worst BC team since probably the 1990s doesn't mean the gap wasn't sizable between TJ and Levi. Levi was historic and the advanced metrics against shots with an expected save percentage of under 90 was absurd.

Agree on the Jacksons, Liam Harris had 27 points in 34 games last season and will be a big addition.

Who is the last star goalie in NCAA to leave after just one year - I cannot think of anyone.

I'm assuming you mean he didn't live up to expectations in the pros?

Yes in pros he is nearly the Brian Leif of hockey, but he laughed all the way to the bank, remember his insane initial conract. On a better note, congrats to our 3 All Americans and Mike Richter award winner Devon Levi, who will be back between the pipes

IMO, DiPieto was and remains the poster child for leaving college too early. But, as Rossi said, he laughed all the way to the bank. And IIRC, he's still laughing as he continues to get paid by the Isles through 2028-29.

Breaking: Per Mark Divver on Twitter, Assistant Coach (and alum) Mike McLaughlin is leaving to pursue an opportunity outside of hockey. Divver also reporting that Jason Guerreiro, another alum, currently Associate Head Coach at Brown, will be moving to NU in the same capacity. McLaughlin is widely regarded as architect of a perennially strong PK while Guerreiro has a solid reputation and is highly regarded.

Ryan St Louis is at the Dubuque camp.

Looks like it was for an all-star game played a couple of days ago. Still identified with NU. Maybe a one-time exhibition thingy?

It's clear St. Louis is in camp for consideration. That having been said, perhaps he has NU's coaching staff's encouragement to go back to juniors for a year to hone his game. It's rare that this doesn't result in an immediate or eventual decommitment, but it does happen that a player returns after a year. See: Carreau, Casey (BC).

Something I never thought I'd be able to post in the Northeastern thread but NU led all NCAA programs in the NHL draft with a total of seven picks. Harvard and (usual suspects) Denver and Minnesota with five each. Doesn't mean all of them will turn out to be game changers but does say something about recruiting and the level of quality in the pipeline.

Related thought: I can't imagine how the powers-that-be at USA Hockey can be thrilled at the draft results, with only 49 US players (22% of the total) chosen. Aside from the NTDP doing what it's supposed to do by churning out first-rounders, the overall USA development picture, IMO, does not look encouraging.

...Times have changed.

I'll say. NU is a solid #1 in both the HEA media and coach's polls. Also coming in as high as #6 in the early national polls. Be interesting to see how they come out of the gate knowing they have bullseyes on their backs.

(Looks like it's time for a 2022-23 thread -- looking for a puckish thread title)
