I will too. I took this as a vacation day when the schedule came out. If BU didn't go to the NCAAs I was going to meet up with friends to watch.

There are several hotels near the airport which is a 10 minute drive from downtown.

Arena parking is available in private lots, probably for $20. Street parking is less expensive. We mostly use kiosks not meters. I've lived here forever and can't quote the parking regulations from memory. The rules, including time limits, are tighter closer to downtown. I believe you must pay until 8 PM. Parking violations will be ticketed.

There is a wide variety of eating and drinking establishments down town, all extremely walkable from the 1st hotel above, not bad from the second hotel. Food and bevvie info to follow.

Thanks. No can do. If I could get it done for under $500, I'm there. I'm spoiled getting a lot of tix under $200. Cheapest flight that weekend is $450 by itself.

Fine. Whatever. I love going to games with 2500 people in the seats in a 12,000 arena. Really fun and exciting...

Absolutely. You put games where people can commute on weekends, so they can drive back and forth. You put games where EVERYONE has to fly anytime, because it doesn't matter. They have to stay there anyway. Common sense. Oh, that's right. This is the NCAA. Not only don't they have any, they don't care. Football, basketball and TV revenue most likely funds this anyway so they don't really care if anyone shows up. We're just the fans...so what.

Yale is a good team, but they'll be way in over their heads against BU I think. If it comes down to goaltending, though, I'd take Yale.

I understand Jillian's sports bar a downhill walk from the Verizon Wireless Arena closed shortly after new management changed its name. Any ideas for similar lunch fare before the Friday twinbill, also within walking distance?

Not to mention any kids hoping to attend would have to be pulled out of school… not a minor issue around here with most towns already having missed above their allotted snow days due to the weather.

Not a spot I frequented, but I think it there is still a bar there, the name eludes me. For convenience, but another spot I do not frequent, there is Murphy's directly across from VWA. Walking north on Elm is the Shaskeen, a very solid Irish pub http://theshaskeenpub.com/. About the same distance, 2 blocks off Elm is another winner Strange Brew tavern http://www.strangebrewtavern.net/.

Right across from the Verizon is Murphy's Tap Room...down the road heading down Elm Street (the main 'drag' if you will) there are a ton of places lining the street. One of our personal faves to pre-game is Margarita's (Mexican fare) has a great atmosphere decent drinks it's about a qtr mile from the Verizon (easy walk). And finally, within an ear shot, in the Radisson Hotel is JT's...it's ok, has a bar...walk right across to the game.

Tut, tut, tut and a shameless plug for my fave: Consuelo's Taqueria 36 Amherst St. Just off Elm. Order at the counter, they bring to the table. Beer, sangria, probably wine. I guarantee you will hear more Spanish spoken here than Margarita's which is a fine establishment, owned by a UNH grad.

As a local I have always 100% street parked for the VWA. Least expensive, most rapid egress. Make sure to feed the meter or kiosk appropriately or you WILL be ticketed. I was in the VWA area today, parking is 10 hour maximum, but beware some spaces on Elm Street may be significantly less than that.
