This whole process is quickly approaching the biggest joke in sports. I can't wait until they make their "final" decision and announce the new name, print all the new letterhead and logowear, then the state riots and burns down their only tree because the winning name wasn't "Fighting Sioux" and the President sends it back to committee to start over again with the whole process delaying the new nickname for another 2-3 years...

Oddly enough, the people who seem most concerned or outraged by this didn't attend UND, or have little interest in the school other than as an observer or hockey opponent.

The only reason he is reconsidering is because of public outrage. it's a smoke screen.

Actually, a bunch of us GPLers were on a road trip this weekend, and when this news came up...we pretty much agreed that if we were on the committee, we'd think about quitting.

Prez: here's your ONE job. Go.
Committee: here's our final name list
Prez: Oh, that's nice. Still going to go against everything you worked for and consider the "no-names."

What a circus, even IF it's a smoke screen.
