North Dakota 2016 Off-Season Thread

Re: North Dakota 2016 Off-Season Thread

Eddicate this ignorant Easterner

What are HMR and JHP?

HMR simply refers to the brand of ammo: In this case Hornady magnum rimfire. Rimfire means that the firing pin doesn't hit the center primer like in larger rifle ammunition, but instead hits the "rim" of the ammo in which the primer is located.

JHP again stands for a type of ammo, in this case jacketed hollow point. Jacketed simply means that instead of just being a lead bullet that is fired, the lead is coated with a substance, or jacketed. Hollow point means just what is sounds like. Rather than have a pointy tip to the bullet, as commonly depicted, the point is concave, or hollow. When it strikes it's target, it kind of turns into a glob of lead, which causes a larger hole and more damage, instead of burrowing through the target as more conventional ammo will do.

Ignore those guys. :p

Re: North Dakota 2016 Off-Season Thread

The odds are most of you guys are not shooting gophers, you are shooting flicker-tails and other ground squirrels.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flickertail

Ground squirrels are what happen when your state sucks so much God took away your trees.

Things have gotten so bad with gopher nation you're distinguishing yourselves from ground squirrels?

Only five banners and still crawling down a hole at the end of the day.

It's the offseason, I am trying to educate you morons.

Really?

Please explain why Goldie Gopher has:
- a flat tail like a beaver (gophers have tubular tails)
- striping/coloring like a chipmunk (gophers are not striped, more monochromatic)
- buck teeth like a squirrel (just top jaw, not top and bottom like a gopher)

Who needs the education again?

All that is because Goldie is modeled after John Mariucci.

btw, Happy, you are, in my mind at least, welcome to come here and keep the summer interesting. You have a way of making us UND fans feel smarter than we really are.
