NMU 2009-2010 Season

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

NMU email sent out telling alums to go to the Joe.

Tickets available through NMU until Thursday.

$23 Adults
$11 Students

I don't think that $11 price is bad at all, as the tickets should be pretty good in the normal NMU section.

Tickets at the door are 10 dollars with a student ID.

The Fan Bus has 6 seats remaining as of 330 pm.
Update on a 2nd bus may come tomorrow.

My only question would be where are those $10 seats for? My guess would be the $11 seats would be in the NMU section in the lower bowl.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Usually like last year, the tickets are in the upper bowl, but all the NMU fans sit in the first few rows in the 217 section? You can sneak into the lower bowl at the end of the period when everyone is about to leave during the end of the period. Large beers are still 7.50/cup for 20 oz. See ya there!

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Exactly, it's not like its going to be hard to sit where ever you want. I'm guessing attendance won't be more than 10,000 (about half full).

Billy are you flying in? After posting the last two seasons, I'd like to put the faces to these screen names. I only know a few of the people on the blogs, mainly Mojo and Kujo when they use to sit in front of us at Lakeview! See ya there!

I think you already do know me Kariya. My nickname in college was "nmu man". I used to hangout with Mojo and the puckheads quite a bit about 10 years ago. Remember running to the Wooden Nickel between periods? We used to smuggle a pint of whiskey in our coats too and poured it into a coke at the games. Johnny Utah! Hockey parties after the Saturday night game (and sometimes Friday, LOL) at the apartment above The Backroom! I remember partying there after we beat Michigan State in January or February. Ryan Miller was the goalie for MSU back then. Riipi, Stutzel, Owens, K-wall and Donnette along with about 20 hot freshmen. Man, those were the days! I almost lived with Donnette for a semester in the blue house across from the dome. He was dating one of my roommates, so we hung out quite a bit. Wow, now that I think about it, she dated Baraniuk and Moderson too. LOL!

I'm booked solid for the next two weeks. I do however have the weekend of Frozen Four open. If NMU makes it I will absolutely be there and the beers are me!

Im getting the 10 dollar seats and sitting with the NMU section. The Joe will be empty for that game, so it wont be an issue. Saturday Night, should NMU be in will be another story and we will cross that bridge when we get there. The Joe cant stop me from doing what I want. Its that simple. :D

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Good luck against FSU. I'm going out to an early dinner with a friend, but will get back in time to catch the last period. I'm hoping you'll have a sizeable lead by then. ;)

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Are you guys serious? Why are youso confident NMU will be smoking Ferris State this weekend? The loss, and shootout loss to NMU from Ferris is all you are probably going off. But have they seen the shot charts? 46 - 33 the first night for Ferris. And the second night was 51 - 21.

NMU got outworked by Ferris State the entire weekend, even NMU's coach says so: "We have a lot of respect for Ferris State. We played the twice in their building earlier in the year and in my opinion we were out-played both nights, but Brian Stewart played very well and was able to get us some points. They’re very well-coached, have a ton of talent and a ton of experience."

Your goalie can only take the team so far. I think NMU will go home for their 8th time in 9 years. Sorry 'Cats...

Most recently, Ferris State went 4-0 over a very good Nebraska-Omaha team. Northern swept UNO the first series in "November" and got swept most recently at the end of January.

Check the college hockey news match up comparison: http://www.collegehockeynews.com/schedules/taleoftape.php?gid=1561

Ferris State has a better record, less goals against, a better penalty kill, Northern has two players to injuries: Billy Smith (arm)
Matt Butcher (knee surgery), and Ferris State's starting goalie has a better GAA (5th in the nation, compared to Northern Michigan's 15th).

As everyone says...History repeats itself. Sorry 'Cats, Dogs will advance.

Butcher's been back for a month.

I love how you leave the CCHA Player of the Year and Hobey Baker candidate out of the discussion.

Ever heard of Mark Olver?

And of course Kyle is going to sandbag when he's talking about the team that he's about to face in the semi-finals. Everyone knows we're going to smoke them!

Ferris won two games last weekend, but they've only won about 3 in the last two months before that. NMU is just about the hottest team in the country right now. We have a top ranked power play, an All-American in Olver and another in Gussie on defense. Stewart is nothing to sneeze at either. You say your goalie can only carry you so far? Well no crap, a hot goalie is what wins championships. Did you just start following hockey? All of the pieces have fallen into place for NMU, it's just a waiting game now.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

I'm cautiously optimistic. The 'Cats that have been on a roll need to continue to show up. It's one game at a time.

No overlooking Ferris, they're just as dangerous as UA_.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

I'm overlooking them and staring directly at Miami. But then again, everyone hates me for my predictions lately, so maybe I'll tone it down.....

On second thought...screw it. Cats win!!!! Ferris blows!

Let me check my 2009-2010 media guide to see how many of this year's players were part of that loss to Ferris in 2003.

Hmmm... Don't see any.
