NMU 2009-2010 Season

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

So, this has to be the best NMU has looked after the first half in a while, and certainly better than the last few years. Depending on which ranking system you're looking at, the 'Cats are either just outside the bubble for the NT, or still alive but with some room for improvement: http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/compare/

However, I hope the trend from the past years of performing well in the second half continues, as any losses from here on out could be potentially devastating to rankings, and there's a stretch in late January/early February that are especially crucial :http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/rpidetails.php?teamid=15

That early season loss to Tech and getting stomped by LSSU may come back to bite us. I sure hope it doesn't because it looks like we could win at least 11 of these last 15 games.

Although that may be the case, I really think this team doesn't need to worry about things like that at the moment... If we dwell on the past, we can trip in the future... If those losses make us #15 instead of #12, then so be it... Those games can't be changed... Just take care of the business ahead of you for now... The games ahead are way more valuable and impactful than the ones that have been played already...

I do agree with you on the remaining schedule... On paper the Cats should be able to have a .700 winning %... Games aren't played on paper though ;)

Hopefully the guys can enjoy their week off, have some fun, and come back rested and ready to rock and roll...

I'd just like for the trip to the Joe (God willing we get one) to not be another do or die situation. I'd like the outside chance of a ticket beyond that. When this team is on, they're on, and I know they can do it. The trick is to stay on, and OUT OF THE BOX!

I'd just like to point out that if Bemidji stays ranked where they are AND wins the CHA Championship, the top 15 teams + the AHA autobid would make the tourney.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

I'm sure there are those who would agree with your opinions on NBA, MLB and Tiger. Most of them live in Mississippi and spend their weekends burning crosses instead of following hockey.

To you and everyone else who thinks I'm racist, I'm not. There is nothing racist about wishing that black athletes didn't make fools of themselves. When a black athlete acts like a ghetto thug on the basketball court or during a football game it brings down all the black people who have worked hard to achieve. It's been proven that black people can overcome their adversity and become doctors, lawyers, engineers. Hell, they can even be president (as crappy as he is...but thats another story). If you can watch an NBA game or football game all you see are a bunch of black athletes jumping around like wild monkeys. Then people turn around and view the black race as wild monkeys and the racism cycles. I have lots of friends who are black and I don't appreciate you calling me a racist.

hehehehe..... You said that the NMU players need to stay out of the "Box". :D

Right, only think NMU can do right now is just win. Hell, who knows, maybe some of the losses won't look so bad in another 2 months, there's still a lot of hockey to be played yet.

This is SO much more racist than your original post. I cannot believe how bigoted this entire post is. Even from an uneducated classless jerk like yourself this is incredible.....

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

BWK once again shows his intelligence. Any fool can hide behind a screen name and throw inflamatory statments out there. Right now he doesn't have the hockey team (7-3-3 in its last 13 games) to rip, nor is Walt Kyle ripe for the picking here either. So he must find other outlets for his anger issues.

He's been challenged to come out and back up his talk, but doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to do it. So he just turtles and hides in the shell that is his screen name.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

BWK, your last post is so far over the top that I refuse to lower myself or this thread by quoting it in its entirety. Suffice to say you have broken new ground, not only by insulting an entire race, but by insulting the intelligence of anyone who can read.

You refer to African American athletes as "street thugs" and "wild monkeys", then have the audacity to object to being labeled a racist. All you needed to complete the 'hat trick' was to add a watermelon reference. "I have alot of friends who are black..." well, I challenge you to show them the unedited text of your two most recent posts and ask them how they feel about your comments.

Stick to blasting Walt Kyle. While that's silly, immature and unwarranted... it's what we've all come to expect from you, and apparently represents the limits of your intellectual abilities.

BWK is the one whose behavior resembles that of a "wild monkey," flinging his excrement filled posts from the back of the cage! Just more drivel that he can toss anonymously, but doesn't have the stones to put his name or face on.

"Wild Turkey" anyone??? I sure could go for a drink right now.

Next drink, May 2010..............

LETS GO CATS!!!!

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

To take this away from the tool shed and back to the rink...the team put on a good show in Minneapolis and is now 7-3-3 in its last 13 games. The schedule is a bit less arduous for the rest of the year, with the team having less miles left than they traveled in November alone. The possiblities are there. Now it is up to the team to take advantage of them.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

I like our chances to make run for an NCAA bid. It appears that possible sweep of Michigan, UNO, Ferris, and Lake State would propel us near 12 in the PWR system. Northern really needs a strong second half and two wins at Ferris (4th I think) to move up in the PWR system. Also a second place finish in Detroit would solidify our opportunity for Midwest NCAA tourny game. I assume I must accept 6-8 penalties/game as it appears this is our average amount of penalties/game. Its really frustrating to read this statistic game after game. I think if the team averaged 3-4/game it would allow the team more energy to dominate during the 3rd period. Nonetheless, congrads on a great 1st half of the season! GO Cats!

If me wanting young black men to act in a respectable fashion is racist, then fine I am racist. But do you think that Dr. Martin Luther King would have tolerated the kind of crap that NFL players like Pacman Jones pulls? No, he would have taken him behind the shed and beat him with a rubber hose. I'm only saying what most people are thinking. If young black athletes want to be taken seriously, then they need to act like respectable people. The same goes for white athletes. NFL players and NBA players need to man up and start treating the games they play with respect.

Re: NMU 2009-2010 Season

Because the Wildcats are undefeated in 2010 so he can't get back on his "Fire Walt" soap box.

How many of y'all coming down to Yost next month? I'm pretty excited about the matchup and it will be the only time I will see them in action this year unless they play at the Joe this year.

Wait... You graduated with a degree in ESPR from NMU, right? Didn't any of those classes ever inspire you to use one of your 4 functioning brain cells before you speak??? I mean seriously.... How the hell did you graduate

School was simple for me. I barely did any homework and still graduated with a 2.3 GPA. I might not have been perfect in classes, but I always got a 4.0 in drinking and partying!!
