If the media reports are true, actor Stephen Collins is a pedophile and a major league p.o.s. Question: how much better than he is his ex-wife, who sat on these allegations until the eve of property settlement negotiations in their divorce? She's pretty p.o.s.'y too, you ask me.

Funny. I was thinking Old Pio would be all over this story, given that he's been a vociferous crusader against shutting up people with whom we disagree.

Fair point. She shouldn't have to deal with death threats (assuming there were some)--to make her speech or to do anything else. Personally, I'm not comfortable with students carrying concealed on campus. But that's evidently the law in Utah.

From some friends of mine, there were indeed threats. And they were considered serious/verifiable/etc.

Hard to argue against that. A real couple of winners...

Well, the html file is named "thug-kitchen-authors-racists", not "thug-kitchen-authors-not-racists".

You don't think Government should be held accountable for their choices? We cut a lot of medical research dollars while building up other nations infrastructure. You reap what you sow and Texas has done a lot of reaping.

Rick Perry cut state firefighting funds then ran to the feds for more help when praying for rain turned out not to be a viable solution to a massive forest fire.

Not saying what happened here is the same, but there is precedent.

What in the sweet name of a hanging, wheezing christ does any of that have to do with me wondering whether Kepler actually believes that the relatively generic concept of Texas "deserves" a random interloper carrying ebola, which will end up leading to the infection of lord knows how many, all due the the fact it apparently employs some sort of political philosophy that makes his pants all sour?

With logic like that, we might as well karma it up and praise Texas for being the ebola-deserving catalyst that leads to the most selfish, slovenly nation in the world being eradicated by the sort of disease it's been asking for all along. It deserves it.

nah, the blue states are the skating mother Teresa's, they do no wrong. It's only the red statest that deserve that fate. Especially if they are below mason dixon.

If Christ is wheezing we should probably take his temperature and send him back to Heaven. Especially since he's vaguely Arab-looking.

Huh? I thought Republicans liked competition...

The bill prohibits automakers from selling a vehicle “directly to a retail customer other than through franchised dealers,” with exceptions for nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

Ahahahahaha. Rrriiiiiight...

And people wonder why this state's economic troubles date back to almost a decade before the Great Recession. Even the "pro-business" legislators are in bed with their Big 3 sugar daddies.

A lot of states have the same prohibition. The dealers themselves have a trade association in the state and want to protect their business. Heck, Louisiana had a law for years that said only funeral parlors could sell caskets. A monestary of monks sued because that infringed on their casket making business. They won.

Here in Maryland Tesla can't have a showroom either. They sell their cars at a shopping mall and you have to go elsewhere for a test drive and service.

And it's ridiculous in all cases.
The dealers themselves have a trade association in the state and want to protect their business.
Want to protect your business? How about providing a good product and good service at competitive prices? Don't go running to the power of the nanny State to make your competition ILLEGAL. If the buggy whip manufacturers' association had been so successful at lobbying, we might all still be shoveling horse poop.

Agreed. In addition, why not reduce the power of business owners and business groups to bribe politicians into passing laws that work against the public interest? a.k.a., "Are you there, God? It's me, Comcast."

Re: Nice Plant #7: Get me off of this planet

Hey, I don't agree with the dealers either. If somebody has a better product, compete or die.
