If he's passing a police line, then he's asking for it.

If this was a murder scene and they had tape up, he'd be told to stay behind the line and if he didn't he'd be arrested.

Another reporter from MSNBC was just shown (minutes ago) doing a live shot from the Target parking lot. She said this was the "media quarantine zone" that the police are holding all the media. Lots of cop cars, lots of satellite uplink trucks mixed in the parking lot. Not sure where he was walking though at the time of his live phone in.

And that's understandable. But when the Ferguson PD keeps moving the tape the media needs to stay behind... My impression is that the Ferguson PD would much rather the media just leave them alone so they can keep up the racist police work.

Ferguson PD ain't winning over any fans with their continued tactics.

In fact, I'm getting really tired of this, "I'm a media member so the laws don't apply to me" garbage.

I've seen a few people on MSNBC this past week being interviewed claiming to be media members. I'm sure their blog that gets tens of hits every year is important to them, but that hardly makes them worthy of credentials and claiming to be immune from prosecution if they are breaking the law.

If a cop tells you to move back, you move back. You don't sit and argue it with them because two things are going to happen:

1. You're likely to get arrested
2. The courts will back the cops. Always have and always will.

There was a local and respected lawyer on a local sports radio station (of all places) that said as much. "It's just the way it works."

As for my previous comment, I'm thinking back to the LA riots Two convicted, two released. Equal parts for both sides. They'll find a way here. And it's due to PR, and it sucks.

And we'll soon see the "cop was trying to pull the 300 pound guy into his car through the open window" nonsense abandoned as well.

Dr. Baden, for non geezers, chaired the forensics panel of the House Assassinations Committee which unanimously determined the so-called "magic bullet" had created all of the wounds attributed to it in JFK and Governor Connally.

There is considerable irony that Captain Johnson, held out by the media earlier this week as the great ameliorating professional who brought Ferguson under control, is now being criticized for. . .doing his job, by those same media.

Captain Johnson (an impressive guy) is describing the various violent acts (shootings, Molotov cocktails, looting, etc) which forced police to respond vigorously tonight. What's interesting is most of these violent acts evidently escaped the attention of the media.
