This was last year. The charges were dropped and she will graduate from that school this month, so it seems the expulslon was reversed. In a Huffington Post article she wrote last week she says she will still have the felony on her record for another five years. If charges were dropped, why is it on her record at all?

She was still formally charged so it will show that.

That doesn't make sense. The charges were dropped. It didn't even go to trial. Why would it even appear on her record? Is this one of those "tough on crime" or "protect our children" statutes?

There are LOTS of cases where you are asked, "were you ever *charged* with a felony?" and she will have to answer, "yes." I believe I read that it will take several years (5?) before it's completely expunged from her record and then she will be able to truthfully answer, "no" to that question.

That seems so stupid to me. If the question is "Have you EVER been charged" then how is it that you have to say yes for five years and then it comes off your record? Whatever.

used to be Ozzy Osborne, now it's the internet. :p 12 is old enough to know that murdering your friends isn't OK. Sounds like one of the girls had an attack of conscience... but the other one didn't.

Don't forget Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, and Marilyn Manson. Plenty of rock & metal blame to go around over the years. :p

Mothers of River City, heed that warning before it's too late! Watch for the telltale signs of corruption! The minute your son leaves the house, does he rebuckle his knickerbockers below the knee? Is there a nicotine stain on his index finger? A dime-novel hidden in the corncrib? Is he starting to memorize jokes from Captain Billy's Whiz-Bang? Are certain words creeping into his conversation? Words like "swell" and "so's your old man"? If so my friends, ya got trouble!

Should be interesting to see their defense. I don't think they're insane, either, just monumentally stupid. It was all very calculated, they had several opportunities to turn back, and they didn't. It's like saying the Easter Bunny told you to kill someone. The average 12 year old knows he doesn't exist, and that killing people is wrong. Maybe I'm forgetting what it's like to be 12, but I'm fairly certain if I thought a make-believe character wanted me to kill someone, it would maybe occur to me that it wasn't real. :p
