Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

Hey, in the arena of political loudmouths, Cornell gave the world Ann Coulter, Bill Maher, AND Keith Olbermann. You're welcome, world.

And Paul Wolfowitz. And Bibi's brother. And S.E. Cupp (though she is super cute).

But also E. B. White, Morris Bishop, Howard Hawks, Edmund Muskie, C. Everett Koop, Francis Fukuyama, Notorious RBG, and Bill Nye. So not all our politicals are bad.

And Dr. Heimlich, right??

Whenever I hear the name Cornell I think of their whiny hockey coach and Andy from The Office :D

Yeah, I'll take Michael Corleone, Jed Bartlett, and Stephen Colbert over the Nard dog any day of the week as far as fictional alumni go.

I believe Charles Foster Kane was thrown out of both.

But let's not forget Sideshow Mel, not to mention Tara Reid's character in American Pie. (Disclaimer: no person who looks like Tara Reid has ever attended Cornell.)

I'm all about gray areas, but how can we have a double standard when it comes to the death of an unborn child.

Either it's murder or you can have legal abortion.

I know, and don't get me started. :)

Jed Barlett graduated Notre Dame and London School of Economics. Was honorary doctorate from Dartmouth and a prof there.

Corleone dropped out to entry the military.

And the granddaughter in the "Parenthood" TV show. It turned her into a lesbian apparently.

To settle this: Aisha Tyler went to Dartmouth as did one of the writers of Animal House. Cornell hangs on to an obscure fictional moment in a cheesy 70's chick flick.

Dartmouth wins.

(And I'll see myself out before the Ivies destroy me...)

Ned Dowd (Slapshot + produced quite few others) is a graduate of Bowdoin.

Animusic wasn't all that good anyway.

But it's the only one of these references that is about college hockey. Also: we win the game. And the "Harvard" players were actually from Dartmouth. (Both teams might have been Dartmouth players, actually.)

Re: Nice Planet XI: Stop the World, I Want to Get Off!

He seems nice.

A former Democratic state representative, Mark Anthony De Simone, was charged with murder on Monday after he allegedly shot and killed a man at a cabin in Excursion Inlet, Alaska, according to the Juneau Empire.

...

De Simone began his term in the Arizona legislature in 2007, but resigned in 2008 following domestic abuse allegations. He was arrested in June 2008 after allegedly punching his wife in the face several times and shoving her out of a room in their home, according to the Arizona Republic.

Go figure.
