Nice Planet X: I knew it, I'm surrounded by a-holes!

Just another patriot.

When do we start calling these people terrorists?

I have a feeling this question will lead to another google hole I'll regret going down, but who is claiming these terrorists/murderers are "patriots", or cheering them on? Is it a real movement?

It sure looks like the crazy fringe of the grievance industry that been peddled on the right for decades. It's not like these people got the rhetoric of "our government is hostile to the people" or "the blacks are running roughshod over the whites" from Cracker Jack.

Yeah... I guess I can picture some of the late-night AM radio I've heard "recommended" by certain people leading to this frame of mind. But I hope nobody would actually call this result "patriotic."

Certainly not the result, but the rhetoric the Echo Chamber has made its daily ritual will do doubt push some weak minds over the edge. Then, if anything happens, the inciters immediately disown the shooter and we talk about a madman or a lone wolf.

It is similar at least to the rantings of some radical mullah. A madman acts on them. The difference is that Echo Chamber then celebrates them as martyrs and encourages others to do the same. That's a big difference, but in the end innocent people die because of hatred irresponsibly spewed by ideologues. From the point of view of those traumatized by the deaths, both are terrorist acts.

This makes sense. If there really are those Americans who secretly cheer these murderous acts in their black little hearts, it might be better if they did stand up and call the terrorists "patriots", exposing themselves for all to see and condemn. But I imagine honesty is not in the repertoire. I don't read a lot about these shooters' motivations, because it's terribly depressing and because it's easy to see it as a "lone madman." But I read a thing in Slate about this one being the outcome of a lifetime of demented misogyny, no doubt supported in some kind of propaganda somewhere in the "fringe."

Or Dan Ellis, for us hockey fans. And in his case, he took a deserved pay cut because he sucked.

Look, I get it. These guys are spending big bucks on mansion payments, toys like boats and cars, in some cases they do have a family, etc. At some point though, you have to be responsible and bank a decent chunk of that money for the future. Not to mention, consider that the majority of the country isn't living like you. Sadly, many of them do not.

No one sits down and explains it to them. Repeatedly. At every opportunity. The see their friends in the league buying bigger and nicer toys and have to maintain status.

There is a distinct difference I've witnessed at the AHL level for similarly talented kids dreaming of the NHL.

The CHL kids who are given signing bonuses or lucrative entry level contracts blow the bonus on a new BMW/Audi/Mercedes sports car or a Cadillac Escalade every two years (and they're not leases).

The college kids, who learned just how to be creative with what little money the have, are more sensible, knowing the money can stop. They have the GMC Acadias, F150's, and other "less flashy" vehicles.

The creepy thing about the current right is that the hysterical rhetoric is not limited to "the fringe." They have legions of their people in the establishment media making a great living telling their audience:

1) The government is their enemy
2) Democracy is tyranny if it conflicts with The Magic Book
3) We are going to a figurative (or literal) Hades
4) "Second Amendment remedies" are the solution

And that's just the "establishment" media. The fringe then picks up the ball and runs with a hundred lunatic conspiracy theories that Flag will be happy to share with us (he's not saying they're true; he's only asking the question).

If that's not incitement, what is?

To be fair, the left's mainstream media is telling their audience:

1) The government will be your saviour
2) Select parts of the Constitution only apply to select people
3) European and Australian solutions may be applied domestically as if they were cookie cutters
4) Anyone who tells you otherwise is wearing tin foil

1 hasn't been a true statement since the early 70s. It's just a cliche the right uses like a security blanket whenever they lose an election.
2 was never true.
3 is a fair cop, although we don't want to apply Australian anything -- Australia is just Texas without the pretty girls
4 is what everybody always says. After all, your sites say if you don't believe them you're SHEEPLE. :)

#1 is definitely true. After all, that was Obummer's entire campaign of 2008, that he would be the saviour. He was essentially hyped as the messiah.
#2 most certainly is, especially if you look at how Gloria Allred handles cases.

#3 - based on what I see from sporting matches from Oz, there are some pretty good looking women in Australia.

Maybe, but the South has given us two great gifts: the blues, and southern girls. A country of northern men and southern women would be heaven. Unfortunately, hitherto we seem to have been ruled by northern women and southern men.

A lot of times too, these guys get their first big contract, and they let the rest of the family start mooching. In addition to their own spending, they're buying a new home for mom & dad, a new car for a sibling, etc. And of course, the parents aren't objecting - they think they're entitled to it for all those years they spent driving the kid to 6 AM practice, buying his equipment, paying for his ice time, etc.
