A lot of times too, these guys get their first big contract, and they let the rest of the family start mooching. In addition to their own spending, they're buying a new home for mom & dad, a new car for a sibling, etc. And of course, the parents aren't objecting - they think they're entitled to it for all those years they spent driving the kid to 6 AM practice, buying his equipment, paying for his ice time, etc.

Sounds like the kids have been gifted a bonanza that they have no idea how to handle. That isn't limited to hockey players, though; it happens all the time. Even I was guilty of it at one point in my life. After a while, you live and learn, and you're able to put yourself under control, decide what spending is necessary and what isn't.

NBA Player Josh Smith: "$6.9 million this year will be a little harder on my family."

First it was Latrell Sprewell, and now this. What are you feeding your family that $6.9 million isn't enough?

"At the end of the day, you know, I do have a family," he said. "So it is going to be a little harder on me this year. But I'm going to push through it, you know."

what is the full context of that quote? He may have been talking about a short term deal in a different city would be hard on the family. Move the family and risk moving again? Keep them where they are and spend more nights away? Try to find something long term next year and then move them? It might not be about money.

"Here's Britney Spears' private jet. Notice anything? Britney used to have a Gulfstream IV. Now she's had to sell it and get a Gulfstream III because people like you chose to download her music for free. The Gulfstream III doesn't even have a remote control for its surround-sound DVD system. Still think downloading music for free is no big deal?" :p

I think it has more to do with age. Old people keep their offices hot like an orchid room.

Turn the baby (fetus) around to a breach position. Birth (expel) all but 4". Crush the head / snip the spine and VOILA! Instant parts.

And this does not bother you (plural you) one bit?

Considering that particular procedure (otherwise known as partial birth abortion) is only done in this country to save the life of the mother, no. It doesn't.

I don't think it's legal in any circumstance in the U.S. anymore, is it? Obviously it wouldn't have an effect on the mother's (physical) health if she's already mostly delivered the child, as I understand this is a procedure that's only sanctioned in China to get rid of "extra" kids although it used to be legal here. In the U.S. you have to kill them before they get that cute.

Your trolling needs work...

That's what happens. That's how you get fetal liver cells. If you're not dusturbed by the process, then I will submit you've lost your humanity.

PS - you may call it trolling. I call it an abomination before God.

Honest question: would unfettered stem cell research allow us to grow liver cells?

Cloning? That's another ethical debate. I guess the question is can I grow just a liver or do I have to get the whole clone (person??????) to get a proper, functional liver?

Umbilical cord blood is, apparently, rich in stem cells. Nobody has (should have) a problem with cord blood being used after the child is born. But can you grow a liver from cord blood, or do you need a real (formerly) live liver?
