Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Ugh. The worst part was the end of that article: "she went running to her parents mumbling 'I have finals next week'". That girl's drunken actions took away a husband, a father, and she's still thinking about herself...and hoping mommy and daddy can fix it for her.

I understand why Twitch doesn't want the Millennial label. I think I'm old enough not to claim these selfish pr!cks as my generation either.
Probably because Mommy and Daddy where the types that went to the teacher to fix their grades and such. Girl, you screwed up, was bar tending while underage, fled the scene, and drunk to boot. There's plenty of reasons to not feel sorry for you one bit. Hope she gets all that's coming to her.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

You can now have your children taken away from you for kicking a dog. Yeah, that makes a LOT of sense.

Animal abuse is highly correlated as a precursor to child abuse and spousal abuse. So, yes, it does indeed make a lot of sense for DCFS or DFS or whatever at least to investigate.

I can see Flag's point. We should be cautious when the state decides to end the parent/child relationship. In this case, I'm confused. Was there any mention that she had kids? Only that she couldn't live with kids under
16. Under any circumstances, that kind of violence raises red flags. And if she had kids, at a minimum she should have been placed under the closest possible supervision. Heavy drinking, "boy friends," violent arguments and abuse of puppies doesn't sound like the ideal environment, do it?

LOL! I've posted the quote so many times I assumed everyone was familiar with it.

"You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - h*ll, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any b*tt-reaming a*shole be a father."

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Details from today's guilty pleas by Mr. & Mrs. JJ jr. Hand holding. Tissues (everytime I use that word I think of Billy De Wolfe. Probably only Doc and I would take the reference). Tears. All very touching. Please notice the details on the spending. And that JJ jr's lawyer attributes the behavior to his "illness," which, IIRC only manifested itself as the feds were closing in. I'm so cynical! Anyway, the next time you have an urge to steal 43K in public money and buy a Rolex, you've got the perfect excuse.

Notice in the video clip, JJ jr's lawyer refers to his client's "talents" and "dedication to the people he represented." Well, by those standards, Jesse James was also dedicated to the people he represented. Although that Jesse used a gun.

I caught the Billy de Wolfe reference, so that officially makes me old. :)

JJJr is headed to prison but all I hear it's crickets.

He'd crack up Carson every time by explaining the word is pronounced: "TIS soo."

As I posted previously, there will be a second act for this punk. Count on it. Think Marion Berry. I'm always reminded of the Godfrey Cambridge line defining a black leader as a "dude with a new suit and $100 in his pocket." In this case it's $750,000, but you get the idea.

On several of the newscasts seen here-the Mrs was said to have pleaded guilty to a separate charge. But that charge was never mentioned. Nor was any possible penalty. As to JJJr-I saw the list of some of what he bought-Maybe I am being a bit harsh but a lot of it seemed like gifts you would give a lady other than your wife. BTW did you spot the lovely fur the Mrs wore to court? If you were looking for sympathy from a judge or jury I would think the last think you would do is wear some 5 figure coat into court. Maybe JJ wore his Rolex too. The news anchor seemed to indicat ethat the maximum penalty might be 4 years in prison(some how i doubt that) and no mention of what financial penalty would be appropriate. They gave the total booty as about $750,000 but it sure looked and sounded like there was a whole lot more than that.

he must have had considerable talent-he did what has been said cannot be done-He fooled all the people, all the time. Want to make any bets on the sentence?

She either failed to file or filed false tax returns. There's pretty good history in Chicago that tax evasion isn't a barrier to high elective office. In addition to being a gay cocaine snorting pig, former Mayor Harold Washington failed to file his federal taxes for five consecutive years. And his birthday was April 15!

And no bets on JJ jr's sentence. H*ll, he'll use it on his CV, as evidence of his willingness to "speak truth to power" and "stand up to the man." I'd imagine it will enhance his reputation, not destroy it. As it should.

I saw a clip of the prosecutor and he sounded like he was giving a stump speech for JJJr.

I believe in the literature it's referrred to as alsharptonmarionberryjessejackson syndrome. Sadly, no known cure.

I haven't seen the clip. And my TV is grateful.

I saw the tax filing charge-but wht I was pointing out is the media did not even announce the charge. I am sure she had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of all of this;) She did not receive ill gotten gains from what JJ stole and knew nothing about any of it. If you had been charged with all of this-would you be even offerred a plea deal? And would the media be playing the clip from your lawyer about your talents? I love when they point out how remorseful these crooks are-like that should make a difference. The only remorse they have is that they are sorry they got caught.

Well, at least it does not appear he took wads of cash and wrapped them in aluminum foil and then stashed them in the freezer. Oh wait, wasn't that done recently by some other politico *********?

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Cue the Keanu Reeves line about licensing parents.

A 41-year-old Perkins, Okla., man is accused of repeatedly beating his nine-year-old son because the boy is a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners as opposed to the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

We should be cautious when the state decides to end the parent/child relationship.

That opens up a much broader discussion. I agree wholeheartedly that today we rely too much on "the state" to police social interactions when we used to have a very strong societal method that worked very well for us for millenia: a shared basic value system in which "bad actions" were viewed with disgust and outrage, and the perpetrators felt guilt and shame. People learned to comport their behavior within acceptable norms because a failure to do so would leave them ostracized.

Other family members would step in to protect the children, not some state agency. (my aunt and uncle for example raised three of their grandchildren because neither of those children's parents were responsible).

The Godfather of modern political corruption, Louisiana's Edwin Edwards, was testifying about his relationship with a Korean influence peddler by the name of Tongsun Park. It was a scandal that came to be known as "Ricegate." Edwards had taken bribes from Park but claimed he just couldn't remember. Evidently there were so many bundles of cash, artfully wrapped up in silk, that Edwards couldn't keep them straight in his mind! He was then in Congress, subsequently elected to several terms as governor. A real piece of work.

In a "60 Minutes" interview, Ed Bradley asked him if it was true he'd demanded ten thousand dollar "donations" for seats on the state highway commission. He replied that he thought it was only five thousand dollar "donations."
