Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

That's a Nice Planet (c) post... why exactly?

I get that (a) he has very different politics from yours/what you find acceptable (b) he's an actor and therefore in your book shouldn't have opinions and all that. I'm not trying to pick nits over political differences. I'm just saying we could perhaps weigh that against the rapists and actual criminals that inspired this thread in the first place.

I count it as the low point of the holidays that I've displeased you.

Displeased me? Hey, I'm just trying to help.

As long as I'm not the one who acts like the politics of celebrities is tantamount to the rape of society, I'm fine and dandy thank you.

All snark aside: why does it bother you that much? Does the personal politics of a celebrity really matter that much?

Of course the politics of celebrities "doesn't" matter. At least no more or less than the rest of us, who don't get our opinions reported as if they were "newsworthy."

Woman tries to get admitted....

Stokes also told police she visited her doctor last week, seeking to be admitted to a hospital "due to feeling like she wanted to hurt someone."

She is reported to have told investigators she hadn't taken a prescription anti-anxiety drug on Friday, and that, "Sometimes people just snap."

Oops. "New-talk" station in Dallas reports President Bush died. As a News Director, that hits very close to home. Gotta have it right. First is great. But right is better.

This is not the first such incident with Bush. After he collapsed during a dinner on a foreign trip, CNN Headline News came this close to announcing his death. The anchor was about to read the story when you could clearly hear someone off camera, emphatically yelling "NO!" It's never been clear how they got their signals so badly crossed. A Bush spokesman today said "put away the harps," when asked about the old man's condition.

I'm just happy he lived long enough to see Obama's re-election! :D (ducks potted plant thrown by Old Pio). ;)

Eh, Old Pio doesn't strike me as someone who would throw a potted plant. I think he would more likely to chuck an old shoe, ideally, an old boot perhaps. ;)

Shoe is good for Pio, but he's most dangerous with a bedpan, and there's always one within reach.

High school kid suing because her teacher gave her a raft of sh*t for wearing a Romney/Ryan T to class. I'm sympathetic to the kid, especially since I don't recall any (probably union) teachers ripping on kids wearing Obama T's. But really, not everything is a BFD. Give it up kid. The teacher has apologized. Tell your parents to stop parading around like Minutemen.

Completely agree. Get over it, kid. You're not a martyr.

The teacher was wrong, the kid's parents are equally wrong to sue over this. Unfortunately, this is what happens with the "Everyone is a Special/Unique/Sensitive Flower" culture now.
