Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

With the way they're drafting gun laws, sooner or later, everyone will be considered a nutbar.

Well, I suppose you could argue that it speaks well of Cook County voters that they don't apply arbitrary standards, like sanity, to their judges.

Verdict: not guilty by reason of insanity. Her lawyer says she's looking forward to getting back to work. Of course. On one of her periodic trips to la-la-land she was evidently pulled out of the court room, robe and gavel and all. We're not exactly talking about Learned Hand here.

Sounds like negotiations went south and the kid was in too much danger, so they went in after him.

Whether they killed him or he did himself no one's sure.

Either way - GREAT!

Glad the pos is dead so we don't have to listen to his non-sensical anti-government ramblings during a trial.

This. Kudos to him for taking care of his hostage, but that's about it.

Feed his corpse to the hogs (a la "Hannibal") if they'll have him. I love how many of the stories are referring to him as "Mr.," and the "alleged" kidnapper. Spare me the legalistic niceties. As I understand it, he thought "aliens" were coming to take his guns. It's not clear if he thought the government had put ET up to it or not. Either way, his cheese had definitely slid off his cracker. Good riddance. My biggest question is why was he still on the street and not making paper dolls someplace, with nurse Ratched seeing to his every need?

Excellent work by law enforcement. Hats off, guys.

Thankfully they didn't take the suggestion from the movie "Speed".

"I'm shocked. . .shocked." Reports that Mrs. JJjr. is under investigation. Among other things, Jr's campaign paid her 5 grand a month as a "consultant", even during the months he spent at a funny farm drying out.

Wonder if this will become national news picked up by the major TV media. Somehow i think this will just fade away and not given much coverage.;)

While it's highly suspect given the natural inner workings of Washington politics, I'm curious if there was ever any good source regarding him spending actual time in rehab during his extended vacation.

Well, we're relying on him, his wife and father primarily. That, of course, reinforces your point about there being no "good" source. He was someplace. And since there was no media coverage, one can reasonably infer it wasn't anything uplifting. Drugs? Booze? Nutbar? Sex change? Hiding from the law? All of the above? Your guess is as good as mine. The good news is he's out of congress and his wife is off of city council. Chicagoans should count their blessings.

Will somebody please tell the morons running our schools to cut it out? First we had a little girl suspended for having a torn piece of paper that "looked" like a gun. Then a high school freshman in Arizona suspended because he had wallpaper of an AK-47.

Then, a second grader suspended because he "tossed an imaginary hand grenade."

However, currently in first place is the 10 year old arrested for bringing a toy gun to school. Nobody thought it was real and he didn't point it at anyone. But busted nonetheless.

I don't want to hear or read about another idiot blathering about the "safety of our students" thus justifying punishing kids for being kids. I don't want to,but I'm pretty sure I will.

Apples will soon no longer be allowed in school. After all, you can pull the stem out with your teeth and toss the fruit. Heck, maybe that's why they always remove the stem...

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Per ABC, the Alabama kidnapper shot first at the FBI and they returned fire.

And be sure not to bring an apple to school on the day you've got archery class.

McCain taking gas from some unknown "Republican" congressman because he called Iran's greasy little monkey, a monkey. From where I sit, McCain has earned the right to say anything he wants. He earned it by spending 5 years in a stinking North Vietnamese prison camp, enduring torture the entire time and refusing their offer to let him out early because it wasn't his turn.
