Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Oklahoma dude standing up to his local police force, and an especially bad cop, posting a sign warning drivers to be careful of a local speed trap. Evidently they haven't heard of the First Amendment. He's taken 'em to court. Reminds me of Lester Maddox. During his term as governor of Georgia, he posted some signs alerting drivers of bad speed traps. 'Course, as governor he also assigned state troopers to make sure the locals didn't get any cute ideas about taking down the signs.

You know, during the Vietnam War, rejectionist anti-American a*sholes spelled America with a "k" to show their contempt for our country. They also carried Viet Cong and NVA flags to their "peace" rallies. Some even went to North Vietnam to collaborate with the commies. These days we have a new generation of rejectionist anti-American a*sholes spelling America with a "k" to show their contempt for our country. The relevant datum here is: they're still a*sholes.

I just want to say, to the investigators that will be reading this at some point in the future: I had no prior knowledge of FlagDude's attack on police officers that, at this point, seems inevitable.

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Interesting partnership in NYC:

NYPD sergeants will be training city cabdrivers on how to protect themselves against violent passengers and farebeaters, as well as teach them methods for handling high-stress situations that could lead to road rage and accidents.

The cabbies and cops also plan to work together to combat offenses ranging from low-level crime to terrorism in a unique partnership between the Sergeants Benevolent Association and the Greater New York Taxi Association that will be announced Wednesday.

“Police officers and taxi drivers are on the streets of New York together all day and night,” said Ethan Gerber, executive director of the GNYTA. “And we want to be the eyes and ears helping the police as much as we can.”

Sergeants will come to taxi garages across the five boroughs to train cabbies using a five- to 10-point safety plan, the two groups say. The cops will also create instructional videos.

Drivers will learn what to do if they see suspicious activity on the street and how to avoid becoming the victim of a crime.

The SBA hopes the blue-*yellow alliance will change cops and cabbies’ perceptions of each other.

The SBA and GNYTA also hope to boost cop-cabby relations by awarding college scholarships to children of officers and hacks.

New York arresting travelers checking in legally owned, legally packed guns at NYC airports.

Now to get past the gun control part a little, what I don't understand and what I'm posting this for, is if you own and are legally licensed to possess this gun in another state and merely travelling through New York, not residing, isn't it unconstitutional for them to arrest like you and charge you like this? Wouldn't Full Faith and Credit apply here?

Unconstitutional? Inexcusable for anyone who values their concealed carry permit not to educate themselves on laws in different states/NYC. My concealed carry permit for a county outside of NYC as well as a permit for 35 other States is too valuable to me to not know that you do not bring any fire arms into New York City, weather I agree with it or not.

I would think that alleged ignorance of a federal, state, and/or local law never constitutes exemption, nor forgiveness for violation (no mater how regional or local the law may be), unless such a law is deemed unconstitutional at the local, state and/or federal level. Kind of like the recent spate of statewide laws that prohibit smoking in all enclosed public areas (even when privately owned), short of licensed cigar bars/stores, private homes, and other specified enclosed areas in the law.

Before anyone herp-a-derps over this - I own guns, and would never bring a gun to New York City or Chicago, because I know the local laws.

I agree... As a gun owner, you need to know the laws that are in place WHEREVER you are in possession of your firearm... It sucks, but when the stakes are as high as they are, you have to cover your arse...

We believe that unless Sunnie and her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity...

What I don't understand is, if God is credited for making her female, shouldn't we also credit God for her interest in baseball, playing rough, wearing jeans and cutting her hair short (and donating the cut hair to charity). Just another way of making sure women are not allowed to wear the pants.

I prefer to get women out of their pants, but that might be something entirely different.

God made her a girl, but the Devil made her athletic. God gave her hair, but the Devil made her donate it to charity.

Lol. Gotta love "Christians."

What a **** show.

They also hint that they think she may be a lesbian:

"Elementary principal Becky Bowman sent home a letter last month, reminding Thompson of the school's religious affiliation and its policy of refusing students who contradict a 'biblical lifestyle.'"

Sorry bible thumpers, if God made you, he also made everyone else.

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Along similar lines, school suspends 9-year-old girl for shaving her head to support friend with cancer. Ruling reversed, and the girl obviously belongs in the Genuinely Nice Planet thread instead of this one.

The school belongs in this thread. Charter school, so no religious angle on this one... just a stupidity, we live in a bubble of our own obtusity angle.

Do these morons ever stop to reason these things out before acting?
