Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

Racism is still thriving in this country. Not a bouncyball fan, but that's a broad brush this rep is using.

That's my state rep. After having a few conversations with the man over the years, I can safely say that he's not racist. He's pent up on the drug issue, which he mentioned in his reply to the Star Tribune with regards to the marijuana testing, but he's not racist. The fact that so many commenters want to apply a racial slant to all of this, that makes me wonder about those people. It's just like using the word "thug" to describe a DB who's had a reputation of playing overly physical, or those who commit actual violence in this world. People are overreacting. Again.

Because there are no white people in the NBA, there are no white NBA fans, and no white people commit street crimes? How come when any one of the 3 are mentioned people assume we're talking about black people?

Racists.

What position on the drug issue was he trying to get across with that Tweet? IMO the biggest drug problem in this country is the massive incarceration rate for the poor and minorities for little more than a small possession charge.

Probably that he thinks there's a drug problem in the NBA, and he feels the NBA looks the other way. So, not the best choice of words to accomplish that.

Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

I don't think I really care if a bunch of rich athletes are smoking pot so why should he?

Well, he's a law-maker, and smoking pot is against the law.....so I guess I'd say its a good thing that he cares about it. You can agree with him or not, that's not the point, but he should care.

He specifically stated, in the reply provided within the link MountieBoy provided, that he takes issue with the NBA not suspending athletes that test positive for marijuana. So if you fold the league, you wouldn't have a bunch of rich athletes smoking pot, you'd have a bunch of really tall regular people smoking pot and therefore breaking the law.

Sure. I bet he cares about what everyone is doing in their own bedrooms as well. Typical Republican.

Okay, that might be true. I don't know. It still doesn't make him a racist, like so many people have been claiming.

No, certainly not a racist. Dirtbag? Yeah, probably. Loser of the next election? Maybe. Given he's in Farmington I'd say that's a 60/40 split in his favor.

Apparently the non-racist has apologized.

"In the last 24 hours, I've had the opportunity to re-learn one of life's lessons: whenever any of us are offering public opinions, it is best to refer to people as individuals as opposed to groups," Garofalo stated. "Last night, I publicly commented on the NBA and I sincerely apologize to those who I unfairly categorized. The NBA has many examples of players and owners who are role models for our communities and for our country. Those individuals do not deserve that criticism and I apologize. In additions, its been brought to my attention that I was mistaken and the NBA policy on drug enforcement is stronger than I previously believed. Again, I offer my sincere apologies for my comments."

Racists.

Although Garofolo's choice of words was unfortunate, I'm less concerned about that than I am that Minnesota's "Teacher of the Year" is evidently unable to construct a sentence in which subjects and objects agree in tense and number.

@PatGarofalo the racial and racist undertones in this comment is beyond alarming.

http://www.kvue.com/news/EMS-responds-to-downtown-hit-and-run-250013221.html

Vehicle crashes through crowd at SXSW. 2 dead, 23 injured.

Driver in custody. Police confirmed he was fleeing a DUI stop. Capital murder charges filed.

Knowing the crowd at SXSW, they've got enough evidence on their phones the trial will take 30 seconds. Either that or they got his plates, figured out his address, and are having over 9000 pizzas delivered to his doorstep.
