Re: Nice planet 4: Take 2. Action!

Go cry in your ice cream fatty!! Just remember to lift your neck rolls up later on to wash underneath them. That will help you from smelling all funky you hippopotamic land mass.

Well, it is. Calories in and not spent have to go somewhere, and sorry Dorothy, it just can't magically go to that starving kid in Africa. Its going to add to that second chin you have, or right to the old FUPA. Eating right and exercise would fix about 99 percent of all type II diabetic cases.
How did Mr. Twain put it?

Oh yeah --- “It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.”

You should stop flapping your gums since you obviously don't know *** you're talking about.

Re: Nice planet 4: Take 2. Action!

As a Type II diabetic for 11 years, I'm going to take you to task over your "cure".

When I was diagnosed, I was 6'2" and 210-15 pounds and still in pretty good shape for a 49 year old. I exercised regularly -- played hockey at least once a week, walked 18 holes once or twice a week and hit the gym several days a week.

I watched what I ate, but I will admit that there were too many late night pasta meals after an Icers road game. I still joke that they were behind me becoming diabetic, but I know that is far from the truth.

My diet (other than those post-game dinners) was pretty healthy. Junk food was not a regular part of my meal plans, but I profess a sweet tooth.

Eleven years later, my weight is about the same - and my exercise regimen hasn't changed, with the exception of not skating for too long due to a bad ankle. In fact, I would say I'm healthier as I close in on 60 than I was when I was diagnosed.

I've gone from diet and exercise to oral meds and injections and I've been on an insulin pump for the past three years.

Bottom line - my diabetes isn't because I was a junk food scarfing couch potato. Mine was a result of a failing pancreas -- and there are thousands of otherwise healthy people who suffer the same fate.
Your first problem was thinking that bigmrg knows what he's talking about.....on any topic except Sisters-of-the-deaf football leagues.;)

I have no idea, but does your scenario discredit his claims as it pertains to good a % of those with this 'affliction'?

Re: Nice planet 4: Take 2. Action!

The competition is admittedly fierce, but Jim McDermott, D-idiot, is making a strong bid to be recognized as the biggest dumba*s in congress. He says the FBI is "racist" for releasing photos of wanted terrorists. And adds in the customary blarney to support his argument. When Jim and Tammy Bakker start financing, organizing, training and equipping terrorists, let me know.

I don't deny obesity, poor diet and lack of exercise can lead to diabetes, but his claim that a proper diet and exercise can cure 99% of type 2 is pure BS

If that was his actual claim (rather than intentional hyperbole) I'd agree your counter sounds more than reasonable.

Re: Nice planet 4: Take 2. Action!

Explain to me again how my sins justify yours. All of you a*sholes would be rendered mute if you couldn't argue tu quoque.

That may be the case, but your constant bleating of "tu quoque" doesn't justify the fact that many of your posts elicit such responses; childishness begets childishness.

His, "you too" bleeting is equal parts laughable and hypocritical.

Or, as my doctor told me, since my grandmother died of diabetes complications I am a risk - I have T2 and admit my diet and exercise could be better, but my 3 brothers are not diabetic and don't do much different than me.

Re: Nice planet 4: Take 2. Action!

May there be a need to merge this thread and the New England Patriots thread soon.....I think so.

Like I said, about 99%. Not 100 percent. I did kind of just throw that number out there because I was too lazy and too heated last night to look up the exact percentages of cases that are caused by poor diet and exercises. Its probably closer to 75 percent now, a significant majority of cases.

I don't deny obesity, poor diet and lack of exercise can lead to diabetes, but his claim that a proper diet and exercise can cure 99% of type 2 is pure BS
Yeah, you're right, I've just been dealing with a client lately that I'm pretty sure his case was caused by the typical cause of Type II diabetes. Not exactly the most fun guy to work on. Especially if he's just had lasagna and the insulin is kicking in and making him sweat right as we're getting started. :p:p

Right. Old Pio crying about somebody calling him names is pretty much him wanting to go cry to his Mommy.
