One of the worst uses of language, IMO, is "not guilty by reason of insanity." Far better, and more accurate, would be "guilty, but insane." It's not like there's the slightest doubt this pos pulled the trigger (repeatedly) so why would we enter a verdict that he was "not guilty?" It's just semantics, I realize, but it's always p*ssed me off.
Also if thy do not take the deal - he can plead not guilty by reason of insanity. If they find he is insane, he potentially can walk Scott free if a few year down the road they find him to be better. That therapy and drugs have cured his illness.
