Re: Nice Planet 2012
Rationalize much? The guy who referred to Ryan as a Nazi, or whatever, is chairman of the California delegation. Admittedly not a household name. But not an inconsequential person by any means. And the great brains at the MSM (at least some of them) should have heard of him. And should have been "appalled" in much the same way they would have been if the chairman of the Texas GOP delegation called His Wonderfulness a Muslim or Communist or something. Tempest in a teapot? Check. But it is worth remembering the double standard here? Check. Not that it matters, but I think you're also vastly underrating P.J.G.'s name recognition here.
As to "jr" he's a country singer, playing to his base. Who cares? Could it be he said something outrageous just to get a headline? I don't know or care. But his career lately hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire. Meanwhile, Gov. Perdue was on national TV, talkng about "coathangers." Is that even a blip on your radar screen?
It's a political year and all sorts of people are going to say all sorts of things. Like the Democrat assembly candidate in NY who expects us to believe his flyer with the word "negrohood" is a typo for "neighborhood." If you believe that I've got some Florida swamp land you can have at a great price. Again, it's hard to imagine the fuss an identical flyer from a Republican candidate would have caused. "Tingles" would have had a conniption. And you know it.
What do you think that the majority of people want to read more about: 1.) a celebrity calling the president a muslim or 2.) someone none of them have ever heard of comparing Ryan's actions to the actions of someone else that most of them have no recall of?
I suspect that if some idiot celebrity were to say that Romney and Ryan were acting just like Hitler and Himmler it would also be top news. I bet that 90+% of Americans can recognize Hitler as a German dictator and leader of the Nazi, but less than 10% have any idea who Joesph Goebbels is.
