Re: Nice Planet 2012

Oops, I just realized Old Pio posted that earlier in the Elections thread. Sorry about the double.

The video makes me sad. I didn't realize things were in such sh*t shape in Oakland.

It's better here. And recall who was mayor of Oakland for a while. Oakland, the home of "Ebonics."

False. Maybe. COuldn't tell you.

I apply my "Bad Movie" equation, adjusted: star power + expectations = x.

X is how bad the band is, given the components.

Edit: that's why a B movie is probably not going to be the worst movie I ever have seen (Birdemic, recently watched, could be the exception).

So... False, maybe, couldn't tell you?

Oasis and DMB have actual musical talent. They choose to write/play horrible horrible songs. Horrible.

They are better musically than some garage band, but you have no expectations from a garage band. Hence, my judgement on Oasis/DMB.

Anyway, back on topic. The world sucks.

Re: Nice Planet 2012

Some people aren't happy until the only place to buy Coke is in a dark alley, surrounded by criminals.

I swear, on a visit to Baku, Azerbaijan, before the Soviet Union fell, I wanted some American smokes (I have since given up the filthy habit ) and the college guys showing me around took me to an area where there were young men standing on street corners, furtively displaying cartons of American cigarettes just like drug dealers. It was creepy. My young friends, one of whom is now the Azeri ambassador to France (man, don't throw me in THAT briar patch!), wanted me to spend my money with Azeris, and not state run "hard currency" stores.
