NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

Hanging around, hanging around. Kings' got alligator blood. Can't get rid of them.

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

Seriously, a non-zero chance that if you show up at the F5 tailgate that you end up in either a snowbank, dumpster, or muddy puddle if you keep acting in such a sophomoric way.

This doesn't automatically happen the first time you show up? Geez, I would have come out one of those years where Western was eliminated in mid-February and I needed to see remotely competent hockey.

The general tradition was to bury a midget (narrowing down the possiblities to Foopers). We have since expanded. You're safe. For now.

Actually I just want to point and laugh at you. Don't get too big of an ego boost. :p Besides, if you developed an ego, you'd have to become a Gopher fan. :D

Ha! Good to know. I've never been one to seek out many of these fan tailgates, but maybe I'll have to next Final Five, even if it means I end up in a snowbank...

Canada's "most famous street corner"?

Edit: Huh. Who knew?

Those that have actually been to Winnipeg? How many of those posting in this thread have - raise your hand. I'll start - I've been, but haven't been back since around 1999. I'll definatly go if the 'Yotes move, and now that I've gotten excited about it, I may even go if it's just for an AHL Moose game next year.

I certainly hope they come back. As for calling it the Jets, I hope so too, but I think the owners will try something different. Whether or not the re-branding works is yet to be known. It worked in Minnesota (Wild seems to be alright), but it failed in Buffalo (we're back to the traditional logo and a modernized take on the old colors). Hopefully not only Manitoba supports it, but also Northern Minnesota, those in western Ontario, and the farmers in eastern Saskatchewan.

Re: NHL hockey returns to the 'Peg! Maybe?

They just forgot the most important part...

Yep. Trademark infringement on Domino's part. There is no TM or (C) next to the Jets logo. Wonder what the NHL thinks of the unlicensed use of one of their (former) teams.

How do Minnesotans feel about "Wild"? I've always thought it was one of the stupidest names in sports, which is a shame, since Minnesota North Stars was an outstanding name.

From what I've read about this story, mainly in Canadian newspapers . . .

If they put the new name to a public poll, my money is on the Winnipeg "Suck it, Bettmans"

Is it still protected as a trademark even though it hasn't been used in 15 years? Wouldn'tsurprise me if that trademark was lost throught the lack of use over time.

It is a stupid name, but none of the other final names were all that appealing.

I can't imagine that the NHL allowed the trademark to expire. They're still making a ton of money off it through the official NHL Shop, after all, not to mention several other places online.

I agree that it's dumb, but I think people are more worried about how poor the team is on the ice rather than how bad the name is at this point.

I like having a nickname that doesn't end in 'S'. :)
