NHL 2019-20 #1: Where Toronto Plans To Win Without Playing Defense.

Re: NHL 2019-20 #1: Where Toronto Plans To Win Without Playing Defense.

Went into the Grocery Store today, just so I could bang on the Plexiglass in front of the cashier to feel like I was at a hockey game....I was respectfully escorted out

I stopped at a dumpster and chanted LET'S GO RED WINGS!

My wife got me a Sharks face mask. Not any joke here, just a cute thing she did.

Blackhawks fire president and CEO John McDonough.

Pretty impressive to get fired while your league is suspended.

I went to the Atlantic coast to boo the Hurricanes.

I went to the airport to boo the Flyers. Since it was empty, I booed the Jets.

I went to Medieval Times to boo the Kings and Golden Knights.

Absolutely enjoying "Championship Week" on Fox Sports Detroit.

Last night was the rebroadcast of the 1997 Stanley Cup Final Game Four cup clinching game. So many memories hearing Gary Thorne and Bill Clement call that game.

Tonight is the 1998 SCF Game Four cup clincher. Now, here's where I became curious about the broadcast Fox Sports Detroit is using tonight. They're not rebroadcasting the ESPN feed. It's not Gary Thorne and Bill Clement. There are no ESPN graphics. It's not the CBC feed, as that was called by Bob Cole and Harry Neale. It's an NHL branded feed with Dave Strader and Mickey Redmond on the call. Which would be fine because they were the Wings TV broadcasters, but until the 1996 season when Dave Strader was hired by ESPN. Mike Goldberg took over PbP for the 96-97 season on PASS, and then Ken Daniels took over for 97-98. 97-98 was also the first year of Fox Sports Detroit, since they won the rights instead of longtime home PASS Sports. And, it's not the radio feed, because that was Ken Kal and Paul Woods.

So, my question is: What the eff broadcast am I watching?

The NHL international feed distributed by the NHL to international broadcasters. Same one is used for rebroadcasts of the 1999 Finals as well.

Holy jumpin'!! Thanks!! I had no idea and Wikipedia made no mention of that.

Re: NHL 2019-20 #1: Where Toronto Plans To Win Without Playing Defense.

I like that networks have chosen to air so many classic games of late. Obviously this has been forced, but hopefully this will be an "a ha!" moment and they will continue air classic games more often than they traditionally have once things are opened up again.

I wouldn't expect it to be anything like it is now, but can it be worse than some of the other filler they traditionally show during non-prime time hours?

Also some of the musical bits that have spawned since are really fun. I think some new creative ideas about composing and collaborating could become more frequent even after. This one is particularly fun even if I don't know 75% of the artists participating.

Holy crap, I read a few of the messages. No name hockey players ripping everyone else and being disgusting.

They're both 26. It's not like they were stupid kids. They're stupid adults.
