NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

Las Vegas-Washington might generate some interest. Expansion team winning Cup in first year vs long suffering Caps finally bringing home the cup.

And George (GMGM) Mcphee against his old club.

Fact: Mcphee's first year as the Caps GM was in 1998 when the Caps made their only trip to the finals.

Could history repeat itself?

If Fleury was half as good from 2010-2015 as he is right now, we’d be using terms like “eight-time Stanley Cup champion Sidney Crosby."

And I'd be sick.

Went to Game 5 of Vegas/San Jose in LV. What a fun atmosphere and environment. That city is bonkers over the Knights right now. Talked to so many different locals who had rarely (or never) watched hockey before the Knights arrived, and now those people watch every game, etc.

While winning makes catching on and buying in a lot easier, those LV residents take a heck of a lot of pride having their team “Vegas Born”.

As a hockey fanatic, it was really cool to see firsthand the game growing and impacting another community. Hearing all of these new hockey fans talk so highly of the excitement of the game, etc was really cool.

Oh, and that city is perfect for hockey. One big party in the stands. :p

Rodina has yet to allow a goal. But follow @SlavaMalamud on twitter to read about past World Championships. Hilarious stories.
You weren't kidding, holy **** this stuff is great:

So, since this story was rather well received, here is the sequel. In 2004, I worked the World Championship in Czech Republic out of a refugee camp and was a part of a fight involving the 74-year old Soviet coaching legend Viktor Tikhonov. https://t.co/85padGNESx
— Slava Malamud (@SlavaMalamud) May 7, 2018

It's like a hockey version of I AM THE MACHINE!

Image a world where Flower has more Cups than The Kid.
The questions would then arise.

Kinda makes me smile.

Malamud is a hack. I would not be shocked if half of them are made up like his theory that KHL was rigged that got a lot of buzz. "ONLY CSKA MIGHT BEAT SKA AND WIN THE TITLE" only for Ak Bars to absolutely shut down CSKA in the final (CSKA only scored 7 goals in a 5 game loss)

Pretty sure he's blocked me on Twitter for calling him out.

TBF, he had presented a pretty good case for it being true. And there always exists the possibility of further rigging to discredit Malamud.

Love that the pens are out and I love that letang was kind of the donkey on the winner

Re: NHL 2017.1: We turn over a new Leaf and still find a Penguin

I love the pictures of crying Pens fans. You just won the Cup twice in a row. You don't get to cry. I mean maybe about living in PA but not anything hockey-related. :P

Preds up 3-0 in the 'peg. Game 7 in Smashville should be top quality entertainment Thursday.

I'd guess Tampa/Caps will kick it off Friday.
