NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

Re: NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

And now the Preds score on themselves. Kessel will probably get credit for it.

Make that 4-1. Malkin

Re: NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

With two goals tonight, Jake Guentzel sets an American-born rookie record for goals (12) & points (19) in an NHL postseason.

All hail Pittsburgh, our first true dynasty in 20 years. Malkin for Conn Smythe. Crosby for POTUS (yes, we'll amend the Constitution to allow it).

Re: NHL 2016.2: An All-Canada Final (Playoffs and Off-season)

Jake Guentzel has 5 game-winning goals this postseason, the most by a rookie in the postseason in NHL history.

And three more than he had in his entire career at Omaha.

Not unlike the '81 North Stars which ran into a NYI dynasty. :(

The '81 North Stars were legit contenders. They just ran into a buzzsaw. The Preds are more like the '91 North Stars where they cobbled together a season just good enough to get into the playoffs and then cobbled together enough wins as the underdog to make it to the Finals.

Apples and Oranges.

Sadness is starting to approach us...the offseason. I hope the Preds can win a few and at least push the series to 6 games.

Kind of on the former. They finished tied for 5th in the Wales and they were certainly the underdog against BOS, BUF and finally CAL before reaching the finals. You're right though that they were far more legit than the '91 version.
