Edmonton is folding the Oklahoma City Barons after this season, citing: too successful in their league playoffs as cause of death. Can't be having any winning in the organization now, can they?

In seriousness, the Oil are not renewing their lease in OKC, and are likely the first domino in the long rumored IHL 2.0... err... the AHL's westward expansion. Their likely landing spot will be promoting their ECHL club Bakersfield Condors to the AHL, with fellow NHL clubs LA, Anaheim, Colorado, and San Jose joining for the 2015-16 AHL season.
Of those clubs, only LA and San Jose own their AHL affiliate making the move easy. Anaheim and Colorado would need to purchase an AHL team/franchise and move the club. Last I had read, Norfolk (ANA) is owned by a local group in North Carolina and Lake Erie (COL) is owned by the Cavaliers owners to compliment the building's use.
