One of the local morning radio guys joked last week, something along the lines of, "With every game the Capitals win, their chances of winning the series decreases exponentially." I thought that was pretty brilliant, given their history.

Kind of a prediction- but based on how the series have been played- I predict that whoever wins between Tampa and New York- they will win the cup.
Between the defense and goalie play- they can totally nullify any hot offense out there. For this, the notion "defense wins championships" is going to happen.
Just amazing the way New York and Tampa are playing.

My feeling is that we have 4 excellent defenses still standing. In particular, I thought the way the Blackhawks shut down a potent Wild team was remarkable.
Based on recent history, I think the West is a little stronger than the East -- though not by a lot. For that reason, I expect the Chicago/Anaheim winner to lift the Cup. But even more than that, I expect all three of the remaining series to be excellent.
The playoffs have been a fun ride this year. May it continue to be thus.

I think Chicago is the more complete team with the best defense (including back checking and blocking lanes).
But I would much rather (by a LOT) see Tampa or New York lift the cup.

Had rangers and lightning in east finals at start of playoffs. And while i wasn't a believer in anaheim, hard to argue with 8-1 with the one loss coming when they led in final minute. These really are the 4 best teams.

I agree but it is still trending in the Rangers/Bolts opener. 1-1 halfway through the third.

Yep, it's now almost impossible to make it as an NHL goaltender if you're under 6'0". The days of an Andy Moog or Chris Osgood-sized goalie are over.

Went to a Prep School tournament a while back. Not only were most of the goalies over 6', a couple of them were from Finland, which seems to be the other requirement.
Used to be that all the mid six footers who were decent athletes played basketball as power forwards, but that's too short nowadays, so they're playing tight end or goalie (hockey or soccer).
